Hollywood Outreach Health Clinic

Blessings to Our Wonderful Friends and Supporters

On a day that began with heavy rain and uncertainty, the sky cleared just in time

for the Grand Opening celebration of the Hollywood Outreach Health Clinic. The future is brighter than ever for the formerly homeless men, women and children served by the Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood as the Clinic opens to help those in the greatest of need who would be without healthcare if not for this opening.

During the ceremony, attendees were able to hear from guest speakers and watch award presentations to those whose tireless efforts made the Clinic a reality as well. After the ceremony, attendees were invited to tour the Clinic and Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood.

The Hollywood Outreach Health Clinic will provide general medical, vision, dental and other services with the help of such partners as Ross University, Miami-Dade College, Nova Southeastern University, Florida Department of Health and many more.

Former Mayor of Hollywood, Florida, and Guest Speaker Mara Giulianti, summed up its importance. “You simply cannot meet your potential as a human being unless your physical body is healthy along with your mind and spirit. That’s exactly what we are celebrating and kicking off here today.”

Dear Friend of the Hungry and Homeless,Each and every day we are shown the beauty of life and the promise of a new day with an amazing sunrise. As Spring comes and goes, we are shown new beginnings and the blooming of nature in our day to day lives. However, each season is one of struggle and hopelessness for those men, women and children who are homeless. Hours become days, days become weeks and weeks become months before so many can receive the help they so desperately search for.

Thankfully, those in the greatest of need have the strongest ally in the world, YOU! With your compassion, your generosity and your support, those long, hot Summer days can truly become the Summer of Hope in 2012. We will be able to transform more lives than ever as we stand together against homelessness in our community. There are thousands of lives crying out for help on our streets throughout South Florida, be the hand that lifts them up when they are in the greatest of need. Thank you for being a compassionate supporter, I always say our supporters are the greatest people in the world!

Regaining Happiness, Regaining Himself

Paul walked into the Broward Outreach Center in Pompano Beach with only the clothes on

his back and the shoes on his feet. Throughout his life, he struggled to maintain sobriety from drugs and alcohol. Despite this, he was able to open his own successful business and have a loving family to call his own. It was only after he hit an economic wall that Paul’s life began to spiral out of control.

“When money started to dry up from my business, I became extremely depressed, I felt worthless. The magnitude of my problems was something I couldn’t deal with, something I couldn’t handle anymore...”

When you think of conga lines, Latin foodand fi re dancers, you don’t usually make

the connection with helping the homeless andhungry of our community... but that is exactlywhat the Friends of the Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood accomplished!

With another amazing fundraiser under theirbelt, the Friends of BOC put together a greatfundraising/networking event with the help ofthe Hollywood Gazette Magazine and Bongo’sSky Lounge at the Hard Rock Casino, which played host to the event.

Attendees were able enjoy fi rst class food, atmosphere and music as well bid on silent auction items with proceeds going to the residential and feeding programs at the Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood.

This was not the fi rst time the Friends of BOC have raised funds for the homeless men, women and children served by the Center in Hollywood. In fact, they have a long history of supporting major projects, including rejuvenating the children’s playground, renovating the kitchen/dining room as well as provide a new bus to help with transportation for the Center’s residents.

Paul’s depression and subsequent drug use led him to leave his family, searching for help anywhere he could... that’s when he found the Broward Outreach Center in Pompano Beach.

“I have been clean and sober for months since coming here, and that’s just the beginning. I feel like myself again, I can’t tell you the last time I felt like Paul.”

His future is brighter than ever, working in Guest Services at the Center where he is able to greet visitors and incoming homeless families with a smile that gives them hope for a better future.

“Thank you to the supporters of the Broward Outreach Center, they helped save my life.”

“I feel like myself again, I can’t tell you the last time I felt like Paul...”
