Your Task… With your group, your task is to research an assigned aspect of the historical and literary context for The Crucible and create a six to eight (6-8 ) minute presentation of your findings. Your presentation must effectively and engagingly teach your classmates the most significant, relevant information you learned while researching your topic. While I will give you a topic area on which to concentrate, it is up to you to determine how to go about researching it, what information to include, and how to compile your findings into an effective presentation.

Your Task… With your group, your task is to research an

assigned aspect of the historical and literary context for The Crucible and create a six to eight (6-8) minute presentation of your findings.

Your presentation must effectively and engagingly teach your classmates the most significant, relevant information you learned while researching your topic.

While I will give you a topic area on which to concentrate, it is up to you to determine how to go about researching it, what information to include, and how to compile your findings into an effective presentation.

Your Basic Guidelines… YOU MAY NOT USE WIKIPEDIA. NONEGOTIABLE. You must provide a typed, printed, properly formatted

MLA works cited page that credits ALL of the sources you used for your presentation.

You may NOT ask me: “Is it ok to use PowerPoint?” X “What should we use to present this?” “What information should I include?” Etc.

You must start becoming be more independent and self-directed in your learning – think for yourself and be creative. I know you are capable of making responsible, appropriate decisions at this point in your academic career; my job is to give you opportunities to do this.

Your Helpful Hints… In order to determine on what you

should specifically focus your research and presentation, you need to have a basic understanding of The Crucible.

The Research Databases (which you can access from the CHHS Library Home Page), guarantee that you are working with credible sources. Additionally, they almost always provide an MLA citation for you, which minimizes the amount of work you have to do.

Think about how you learn best in your classes. What teaching/presentation styles techniques do you find to be the most effective?

Your Helpful Hints… If you do not find lecture particularly effective, or you are

easily bored by colorless presentations with no images, don’t lecture or make a colorless presentation with no images.

If interactive, multimedia, and/or nontraditional presentations typically help you learn best, consider creating an interactive,

multimedia, and/or nontraditional presentation. I love color and creativity and expect to see both in your presentations. Consult the rubric (on the last slide of this presentation) for more information about how your work on this project will be assessed
