I would like to start June’s Mayor’s Message by congratulating the seventeen students who were this year’s Graduating Class of Bowden Grandview School. The Cap and Gown Ceremony was held at Bowden Grandview School on Friday, May 25th. On May 26th this graduating class was the first to hold their banquet and Grand March in our new community hall. This was an amazing event as the new hall has much more space and amenities. I would like to thank all of the volunteers for all of their efforts that made this weekend memorable for the graduates and their families. Wishing the Graduating Class of 2018 success in their future endeavours. June 3rd to 9th is provincial recognition of seniors. At our May 14th Town Council meeting, Town Council authorized the proclamation of Seniors’ Week. There are many activities within our local area and I would urge all seniors to enjoy the week. It has been brought to the town’s attention that some people are depositing their garbage and recycling in other people’s containers. I know that some residents monitor their containers and I would suggest that all residents be more vigilant. There is a fine of $250.00 for a first offence, $500.00 for a second offence and $1000.00 for a third and subsequent offence. It is okay if you have permission to use another resident’s containers. Please mark June 4th down on your calendar. Town Council will be hosting an Open House at our new community hall on June 4th starting at 7:00 p.m. This is your opportunity to voice concerns, make suggestions and engage in dialogues with Town Council and other residents. I would encourage residents to check the town’s website for information to see what committees the mayor and councillors sit on. Our website and newsletter are excellent sources of information for our residents. Please contact the Town Office for any information on matters pertaining to the town. Another date to remember is June 16th. This will be the official opening of the new community hall. There have already been numerous activities held at this venue, but this will be a full day and evening of celebrating this remarkable achievement within our community. More information is available in this newsletter or at the Town Office. Warm regards,
Mayor Robb Stuart

June 1, 2018 marks a big change for the Bowden ATB Agency as Sena Urichuk is retiring. Agency operations will remain unchanged as Sena’s daughter-in-law Kim Urichuk transitions into the role of agency owner. Sena has managed the local agency for the past 27 years and has offered not only sound banking advice and customer service, but also doggie treats, a shoulder to lean on, and a smile and laugh for everyone! We will miss seeing and visiting with her at the bank, but are sure Sena will continue to be active in her community endeavours. We look forward to seeing her out and about!
Bowden and District Agricultural Society Western Community Lifestyle
Vision: Grow and maintain the facilities to be a hub for the Community and area gatherings. Mission: To support and improve the spirit and quality of life in our community. Core Values: Community, Western Heritage Preservation, Youth, Volunteerism.
The Bowden and District Agricultural Society is a non-profit organization that has been in Bowden for over 50 years. The Ag Society owns and operates 42 acres of land on the southern town limits. A rodeo arena, riding arena, 2 ball diamonds, kitchen and washrooms, and a
hall are on the site and operated by the Ag Society.
The Ag Society has been financially supportive of the new hall in Bowden, the Skate Park, fire department rescue unit, annual Grandview
School scholarship and green certificates, high school rodeo, and many other events and activities in Bowden and area.
The Bowden Ag Society hosts the annual Bowden Daze weekend events the last weekend of July each year. Plans are under way for the
2018 event and even though all plans are not completed, we can confirm we will be hosting the Pro Bareback Challenge event again. As
well by popular demand, the KSFMX Freestyle Motocross will appear again this year at Bowden Daze. Other events include the parade,
CARA rodeo, Jr. Rodeo, Team Roping Jackpot, Team Penning, Friday Night Kickoff Party with prizes and music, Slow Pitch Tournament,
Cabaret, kids games, and much, much, more. Stay tuned for more Bowden Daze news.
Numerous events include monthly gymkhanas, a team roping jackpot, polo-cross tournament, Sr Pro Rodeo, ball tournaments, bronc
riding school, high school rodeo, barrel racing jackpots, and there is always the ability to just ride in one of the arenas most days.
Monthly meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the grounds in the rodeo office. New members are encouraged to join throughout the year. The website is currently under redesign, but feel free to visit when completed in the near future at
www.bowdenagsociety.com. Our phone number is 403-559-6316 and we are also on Facebook. Without volunteers none of this happens
and this is the same throughout the community and we thank all that help to make this such a great community. We are proud to be part
of Bowden and appreciate the support of the region and encourage all to get out and attend an event and if so desired become
part of the organization.
