Born and raised in Kentucky, Karen Mathis is a direct descendant of Daniel
Boone. It’s only fitting that she has been considered a “trail blazer” in every
phase of her fashion career. In the small Americana town of Richmond,
Kentucky, Mathis began her career at 15 years old with a work permit, at the
Elizabeth’s Shop. Soon after Mathis was piecing together bell‐bottom jeans,
to meet a new market demand that had not yet been met by manufacturers.
She tested and perfected her “8 Easy Pieces” system with years of personal
career dress and travel needs. She now goes to the Los Angeles International
Fabric Show and designs clothing items in silks and knits. Mathis’ newly
published E‐book, 8 Easy Pieces is now available on Amazon.com. She is
expanding her private customer base from a small select group of ladies in La Jolla and San Diego, to a
greater online presence, where she offers her fashion collection at KarenCouture.com
Julie Ostrow, The Humor, Laughter, and Improv Coach and
First‐Ever American Laughing Champion shares her insights

and professional lives.

Trista Porter is dual majoring in Journalism/Mass Communication and Business Marketing. She cares a great deal about our planet. She says, “I feel like we all have an obligation to care for it. God gave us our home, so we need to respect it. I’m on a mission to spread awareness of the earth and the stress the human race is putting on it. With that, I sell nature products. The majority of what I sell is candles. In short, they’re made with clean burning, natural soy wax and essential oils for scent.”
Porter co‐owns a photography business with her fiancé.
