The Toronto Catholic District School Board is an inclusive learning community rooted in the love of Christ. We educate students to grow in grace and knowledge and to lead lives of faith, hope and charity.

At Toronto Catholic we transform the world through witness, faith, innovation and action.

OUR MISSION OUR VISION

New Field at St. Patrick’s

An investment of more than $1.5 million is being made for a new FIFA Standard soccer field at St. Patrick’s Catholic Secondary School. The new field, expected to open this fall, will be limited to use by St. Pat’s students during regular school hours while the remaining time will be available for community use. Community and permit use times will be posted on a Commu-nity Bulletin Board.

The new field will feature state of the art – anti-glare and anti-spill hood-ed LED lights to prevent unwanted intrusion outside the field. The field will also extend use into months of the year when it has been traditionally too wet or muddy to use. For general safety, a perimeter fence will keep balls inside the field, however the plan calls for the field to be unlocked to allow general community access outside of permit hours.

School Cash Online

TCDSB is pleased to introduce School Cash Online, an easy to use, safe and convenient way for parents and guard-ians to pay for their children’s school fees including agendas, yearbooks and class trips. This new cashless system offers parents the convenience of paying online for school activities and purchases from the convenience of your own home! This includes payments for school trips, activities, sports-related fees, and pizza lunches (just to name a few), as well as providing the following benefits: •A convenient fee payment option that saves time•Reduces paper•Student safety - no more need to send cash or cheques to school

School Cash Online will be rolled out across the TCDSB during the 2017/2018 school year in five phases.

For more information, frequently asked questions and to find out when the program will be available in your school visit https://www.tcdsb.org/forpar-ents/schoolcashonline.

Consolidation of Holy Redeemer, St. Matthias and Our Lady of Guadalupe

On February 23, 2017 the Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to consolidate St. Matthias, Holy Re-deemer and Our Lady of Guadalupe. Holy Redeemer students are joining their peers at St. Matthias this Septem-ber. Students from Our Lady of Guadalupe will move to St. Matthias pending the approval and construction of a new, larger school building at St. Matthias.

As part of this consolidation, the Board of Trustees resolved to explore increased programming options at St. Matthias, including French Immersion and enhanced science, technology, engineering and math programs. Addi-tionally, the larger numbers of students provide increased opportunities for sports teams and other extra curricu-lar activities.

New School Bus Parent PortalAs we all know, last year’s school bus service got off to a rocky start. While we expect this year’s start up to be much smoother we’ve launched a new Parent Portal to help keep parents up to date with the latest information on their children’s bus routes. The new portal provides information on pick up times and locations, bus compa-ny contact information and notifications if your bus is late.Parents are encouraged to register today by visiting www.torontoschoolbus.org

Formed in 2011, the Toronto Student Transportation Group is responsible for planning, maintaining and co-ordinating the operations of TCDSB and TDSB school bus routes and oversees all bus operations. This online portal is one of several improvements being made to ensure an effective start to the 2017-18 school year.

Annonymous Alerts

Beginning last March, students in TCDSB secondary schools have been able to anonymously message their school principal about a range of issues including bul-lying and other safety concerns. www.anonymousalerts.com/tcdsb

The Anonymous Alerts reporting system helps to pro-mote safe, positive and accepting School climates by em-powering students to anonymously report inappropriate behaviours to school staff.

The system allows for 1-way or 2-way anonymous encrypted communications between submitters (stu-dents, parents or community members) and Administra-tors and/or school staff. Users of the system have the option to remain anonymous or to reveal their identity when submitting a report

Expanded French ImmersionTo help meet increased demand from parents, the TCDSB is expanding French Immersion programs across the system. Starting in September 2017 French Immersion is offered to JK students at St. Gerald with St. Brigid being introduced in September 2018. In future years the French Immersion program will also be offered at St. Patrick’s Secondary School
