SURVEY PARAMETERS

Introduction

The data comprising this map are derived from the results of anairborne magnetic and gamma-ray spectrometric survey carriedout by Goldak Airborne Surveys. The survey was flown using 2Piper PA-31 Navajo aircraft. The aircraft were each equippedwith 3 Geometrics magnetic sensors, Radiation Solutionsgamma-ray spectrometers, GPS navigation systems and digitaldata acquisition systems.

Ternary Radioelement Map

The ternary radioelement image was prepared by modulatingthe red, green, and blue (RGB) components of the colourspectrum using the normalized radioelement counts ofpotassium (K), equivalent thorium (eTh) and equivalent uranium(eU), respectively. The RGB image was then combined withtotal count (TC) mapped as intensity. Brighter areas displayzones of higher total count. The total count tends to outline unitboundaries and structure.

The gamma-ray spectrometer response represents radioactivityemanating from the upper 30 cm of the earth's surface. Thesurface concentrations are influenced by varying amounts ofoutcrop, overburden, vegetation cover, soil moisture andsurface water.
