Color the Picture

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it

to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. –Philippians 1:6

Day One: You Are Special!

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.—Psalm 139:13

God made you special, distinctive, and unique and is still molding you, just like the bamboo seed. There is nobody else quite like you because you are one of a kind. He made you just the way He wanted you and loves you so much.

Draw a picture of yourself, or write about your unique qualities.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for making me just like I am. Since You made me and love me, I will love myself too. Thank

You for making me special, distinctive, and unique. Amen.

Day Two: God Has Amazing Plans for You

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you

hope and a future.”—Jeremiah 29:11

God created you with all the talents and qualities you need to achieve the amazing plans He has for you. What talents has God given to you? What do you like to do?

Draw or write about three things you like to do.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for the talents You have given me. Help me to discover them all and use them for

Your glory. Amen.

A 5-Day Devotional Journal

Day Three: Work Hard

I can do all this through him who gives me strength. —Philippians 4:13

Some things may come quite easily for you, but other things may take time to perfect. They take practice, hard work, per-severance, and trust in God to get it right. What is something you’d like to do better that takes practice and hard work?

Draw a picture of you working hard at your new skill, or write about it.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for helping me become better at my talents each day. Help me to work hard and become

the best I can be. Amen.

Day Four: Learn from Others

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.—Proverbs 1:8

The bamboo seed learned from the moon. Who teaches you what you need to know?

Draw a picture of a wise person in your life, or write a letter thanking someone for sharing wisdom with you.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for giving me wise people to learn from each day. Amen.

Day Five: Dream

And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

—Philippians 1:6

Although the bamboo seed longed to be part of the excitement of the village, God was molding him to touch more lives than he could ever imagine. How do you think God might use your gifts and dreams to touch lives? Write or draw a picture of you reaching your wildest dreams.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for using my talents to touch lives in ways I can’t even imagine. Help me to keep working

hard and trusting in You. Amen.
