All meat is from local farmers; not only is it guaranteed Irish but guaranteed quality. Athea Pudding Produced in the region by the Brouder family using traditional (and secret) recipes, this is a quality Irish Farm House product. Guiry’s Free Range Eggs Land loving local husband and wife team Christine and Mike Guiry deliver free range eggs to our kitchen several times a week. Free range eggs have a richer, larger, and more flavourful yolk. Irish Pride Bread The bakery began as a collaboration of family bakers and has grown significantly since then. Irish Pride Bakeries has two bakeries located in Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo and Taghmon, Co. Wexford with a depot out of Raheen, Co. Limerick. These bakeries manufacture a wide range of wrapped bread, soft rolls and speciality breads. Daly’s Seafood Another family business, based on the Ring of Kerry. The family’s expertise in growing dates back to 1896 when the family worked a farm in the Donabate area of County Dublin. The current farm was established in 1926 and in the 1930s, they began growing fruits and salads and supplying them to the local Dublin markets. They now supply nationwide. Sea Lyons Seafoods The Lyons family are based in Carrigaholt Pier, Co. Clare. This is a family run business employing 12 people, sourcing fish locally from local fishermen off the Atlantic Coast. Irish Piemontese Beef Two family farmers based in Tipperary and Laois breeding purebred Piemontese animals with a view to bringing this healthy beef to Irish Consumers. When a young Dick Fitzgerald moved to Knockanes, Adare in 1967 he was befriended by Timmy McNamara, a man who made a profound impression on him, and his future wife Mary. Here is their story ... Timmy McNamara was born in Knockanes, Adare in 1900. As was traditional at the time he left school at the age of 12 to work on the mixed farm at home. Timmy’s father and Timmy himself were instrumental in forming the Black Abbey Co-operative in Adare which still exists today. Timmy worked for the Dunraven family in the 1930’s when they were building a new road to join their homes in Kilgobbin and Kilcurley. It was while Timmy was building this road that he met his future wife, the elegant Kitty Foyle. Kitty was employed as lady-in-waiting to the Dunraven family who had just returned from the United Kingdom. It was while she was out for a walk with her ladyship that their paths crossed. They married in Kitty’s home of Abbeyleix in June 1938.Timmy was very proud that his wife was well travelled and was often heard to comment on her spatter of French. When all the farm work was done Timmy enjoyed his other great loves in life, music, poetry and storytelling and was a regular at the Rambling House Nights in the Madigan household. A non drinker, he would only take a tipple for medicinal purposes, a little drop of brandy in times of crisis. He smoked the pipe and had the pleasure of enjoying tobaccos from around the world given to him by the Dunraven family. Kitty and Timmy were always a very regal couple and even in their later years would be seen walking hand-in-hand to the church on Sundays. Kitty as elegant as always bedecked in her fur coat. Timmy passed away on 14th January 1981 and was followed home only three weeks later by his beloved Kitty. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Timmy and Kitty’s remaining relatives, all who have contributed to honouring the great Timmy and Kitty McNamara. Here’s to you Timmy!
