Welcome!
Welcome to the inaugural issue of SSA Youth News! The purpose of this newsletter will be to help build the communi-
ty of young soaring pilots across the USA. There are plenty of exciting things going on right now for SSA Youth. First let
me introduce myself. I’m Tony Condon and am the Chairman of the SSA Youth Committee as well as editor of this
newsletter. I’m looking forward to getting to know you and helping you get started with your soaring careers! Please
keep me updated on what is happening at your local glider operation. There are scholarship deadlines, first solos and
check rides, badge flights, soaring camps and contests, and plenty of other activity to keep up on. My email is abcon-

Minden Soaring Club Youth Scholarship Recipients to be Honored
The Minden Soaring Club honored eight young pilots from Northwestern Nevada to receive $1000 flight
scholarships to continue their flight training in gliders. The scholarships were publicly awarded on Saturday
April 6, 2013 at the airport in Minden, NV as part of the Minden Soaring Club banquet and annual member-
ship meeting. The scholarship recipients are Alex Garic of Minden, Grant Dunkelman of Gardnerville, Zach
Fisher of Dayton, Daisy Tanner of Minden, Donovan Harrison of Reno, Emma Justis of Reno, Ashley Cale of
Gardnerville and Collin Justis of Reno.

Sazhin wins the day on the OLC 2012 Kolstad Scholarship Winner Daniel Sazhin had a great ridge flight on March 1st to register the highest

flightinfo.html?dsId=2832543. Daniel flies with Aero Club Albatross but logs his flights with the 1-26 Associa-
tion (www.126association.org) out of Blairstown, NJ and is a Freshman at Pace University in New York City.

Camp held at Seminole Lake Gliderport in Groveland, FL. JP at-
