YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT

The Issue The issue is that youth find it hard to get
employed. They do not know where to find the job They also do not know where to look for
jobs. Some of them are graduates, but still can
not find jobs in their fields.
Advocacy Statement
We believe that the youth have the right to work in our society and be given a chance to prove themselves in the Canadian market.
The area we chose to support is Scarborough.

Co-op and internship are the best method to learn hands on experience about their job field.
They have done some research before starting their programs

Majority acknowledge that after completing their programs, it is hard to get a job easily.
They also believe that after finishing their studies, it takes time to find a job of their interest.

Young generation are not looking for any agencies or resources to find the job

The job market is not stable for the young people aged 15-29.
13 percent of the 6.8 million Canadians in the ages of 15-29 were not educated, employed or trained
Men in their 20s have the hardest time finding work.
The global youth unemployment rate is 12.6%

ReflectionWhat did we learn?
Most youth find it hard to look for jobs Not many have done their research about
their chosen field There are many agencies that help support
the youth in finding their jobs Many youth don’t have much knowledge of
where to look in search of their career. Ontario has the highest rate for
unemployment in Canada Some people don’t have a job because of their
lack of experience
