Youth Welding Workshop April 12, 2014 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Agricultural Engineering Building The Ohio State University 590 Woody Hayes Dr. Columbus, OH 43210 Sponsored by The Ohio State University, AWS Columbus Section, and Lincoln Electric The Youth Welding Workshop provides a unique opportunity for youth ages 10-18 to develop their arc welding (stick or SMAW) skills or their oxyacetylene welding and cutting skills. Through one-on-one assistance students are able to begin their own level and progress their skills throughout the day. In addition to the skill work, all participants will first attend a safety session then spend the rest of the day in the welding lab. This workshop is open to any youth! This workshop provides an excellent interactive opportunity for those completing the 4-H Arcs & Sparks project. Your registration includes: 3 welding specimens (two at our facility and one to take home) Welding related supplies Welding technique handouts Lunch Registration is limited to the first 20 participants for each type of welding, oxy and arc. The cost for the workshop is $90.00. Sign-in will be from 9:00 am until 9:30am. Participants need to bring or wear industrial quality eye protection, long sleeve shirt, long pants, and high top foot protection. Gauntlet leather welding gloves, and auto-darkening welding helmets are available, if needed. No athletic footwear or sandals. Registration is due by April 1, 2014. No refunds. Please be sure to include an email address on the registration form in case we need to communicate with you. Parents and volunteers are encouraged and welcome to attend the day.
