Do you have a blog?

What do you write about?

Campus Spy

What is special about you?

Your campus life is interesting!

Target audience?

Page 5: Youth.SG Campus Spy 2012 Session 3: Photoblogging

Why are some blogs are unpopular?

1. Unfocused content (Topic? Categories?)

2. Your posts lack variety (Eg: Today, I went Bishan. Tomorrow, I am going AMK…)

3. Blog for a reason (Eg: End of exams! So happy! The end. Use Twitter!)

4. Your headlines don’t grab attention (Hi! VS How-to…)

5. You post inconsistently (Once in a blue moon)

WHY SO POPULAR?

From xiaxue.sg

Page 7: Youth.SG Campus Spy 2012 Session 3: Photoblogging

How to blog better?

1. Focus on the most interesting / newsworthy thing

2. Avoid meaningless sentences. Eg: Professor Koh gave us a talk last night.

3. Be specific and informative

4. Don’t write events chronologically

5. Leave out the most boring stuff

Page 8: Youth.SG Campus Spy 2012 Session 3: Photoblogging

Eg: Singapore Blog Awards

Create Meaningful Photos

Do not post so many posters in your blog!

Too much camwhore shots is no good unless…

Don’t leave out the details

Changing perspective

What does every photo mean?

Cannot always say “I love this picture!”, “My best picture!”, “This is damn cool!”

Page 10: Youth.SG Campus Spy 2012 Session 3: Photoblogging

Rule of Third

when your subject lays on the intersections of these lines, the picture looks alot more pleasing

Page 11: Youth.SG Campus Spy 2012 Session 3: Photoblogging

Give the head some space

Imagine your subject is walking in a direction. You have to that person space or leadroom for the direction they are walking towards; otherwise, it looks like he or she will walk into a wall.

Pole on Head

Do keep in mind your

background and any trees or poles that might stick out of your

subjects head.
