Face the Facts!
Reading researchers have found that participation in summer reading is essential if students are to perform better in school the following year. Those children who do not read during the summer months do not simply stand still academically; they fall back. These summer learning losses can add up year after year, until the student is far behind his or her classmates academically.
One of the best ways to prevent summer learning loss is for parents to make summer reading a priority, ensuring their children have access to numerous books.
This is the first year we are having open enrollment for all students!
We want students and families to have easy access to math and reading enrichment exercises that encourage thinking over the summer.
• The goal of this program is to give families fun, interactive activities that everyone can participate in.
•Each week, we will have a new packet ready for you to pick up after 3:00 on Tuesday .•In this packet, there will be customized reading and math activities for your student.•We ask that you return the packet to the drop off on Monday of the following week.

We understand that many of you will be taking a vacation over the summer. Please inform us of the date of your vacation as soon as you know your plans. Then we will know not to make a
package for you that week. There will be a postcard included in your first package. Please use the postcard to notify us of any vacations
you have planned.
