#MentoringWhat is mentoring?Mentoring is a learning partnership between a person with certain personal experiences/knowledge (Mentor) and a person looking to gain such experience/knowledge (Mentee) for the purpose of sharing knowledge and information. Mentoring provides all persons involved with the opportunity for and access to professional and personal growth and development.

#Mentoring ProcessGetting Started in the Mentoring ProcessDetermine your availability and the time you are willing to devote the mentoring relationship. YSPN suggest meeting for 45 60 mins at least once a month as a minimum starting point. Determine how you will meet. In person, over Skype, Facetime, telephone, etc. The first meeting should be face to face wherever possible. The Mentee should come to the first meeting having completed the Development Plan provided by YSPN.The first meeting is about getting to know each other and setting out the parameters for the mentoring relationship.

#

#Mentoring ProcessOngoing Mentoring MeetingsSubsequent meetings should occur as agreed between the parties. It is recommended that both Mentor and Mentee keep a record of the mentoring activities to ensure time is spent effectively working towards the established goals. YSPN provide a Meeting Log template for this purpose. Information discussed in your mentoring relationship is confidential.

#

#Mentoring ProcessEnding the Mentoring RelationshipTowards the end of the 9 month term a final meeting should be set. The Feedback Form provided by YSPN should be prepared by the Mentee and given to the Mentor either at this meeting or shortly thereafter. Both parties may agree to end the mentoring relationship earlier than planned
