Problems

1. The light effect is not effective, lights are not go-ing through the model, only the ring part can be seen in the dark.2. The one point connection is too weak to stay and hold the structure

To Improve:1. Cut a horizontal line at 5cm from the connec-tion point, therefore to make the connection part wider and stronger.2. Use Rhino to make holes on the pyramids of the ring and make holes around the connection part by hand. I chose to use triangles to corre-sponse to the triangular holes on pyramids.

New Model

I used the original unrolled file to cut using CNC cutter. Then I scissored 5cm fom the bottom and dig triangular holes by hand. The modelling method is same as before.

The construction of the new model works okay with larger area of connection, but still glue is not strong enough to combine them so I sewed through paper and taped around the connection part. The use of white tape makes the con-nection less obvious therefore let two parts look more like a whole.

Light EffectBefore I construct the ring, I need to connect the circuit so that I can make a switch to light up four bulbs at the same time. I used white wires and white tapes to make them “invisible” within the model. The four bulbs connected will be placed inside the ring , one in every two pyramids. Additional two bulbs will be placed individually in both the upper and lower body of the model.
