##09 - 13/06/19 YWPS Newsletter Greetings From the Principal I have very much enjoyed reading through some student reports this past week. As always, I am impressed with how the children have progressed this year and what their passion are. In the 5-6 reports I was particularly interested in the persuasive topics they wrote about such as, “Australian musicians should be paid more”, and “YWPS should have the oval everyday”. Sentiments after my own heart! Your child will bring home their report on Friday 21 st June. Parent teacher interviews will be held in the last week of this term. Bookings will go ‘live’ on Monday 17 th June from 3.30pm. Interview times and the code to access interview times can found later in this newsletter. Please make sure you book a time to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their reports and progress for this year. See further into the newsletter for details on how to do this. Do you have a child commencing Prep in 2020? We’re currently taking enrolments for 2020. If you have a child who’s ready to start school next year, please collect an information pack from the office. It would be appreciated if the enrolment form could be completed and returned by the end of this term (June 21), to assist us with forward planning. Also included in the pack is a flier outlining orientation dates. Once enrolled, you can book your child in for the three one hour sessions. The transition program will end with a family picnic in November. Winter Wonderland Thank you to all of the committee members for their time and energy in putting together the Winter Wonderland Trivia Night Event. Staff NewsMany of you know Mrs Christine Johnstone, our Business Manager. Chris has been here for many years and has seen the school grow and grow and GROW. Chris won’t be here to see much more growth as she is retiring and will be finishing up with us on Friday 28th June. I know you will join me in saying that we will miss her terribly in the office – but she won’t miss the school bells, the cold mornings, and all things administrative, that’s for sure. Please call in to say goodbye to Chris over the next few weeks before she sets sail for South Australia and beyond.Farewell also to Ms Sarah Foster who commences her Parental leave at the end of this week.

    Warm Regards,Karen

As part of our drug and health education this term we are having the Life Education mobile learning centre visit our school in Term 3 from Tuesday the 16th July to Friday the 2nd of August.

Life Education delivers health and drug education through a unique mobile learning centre environment which provides students to develop strategies and practice the skills required to lead a healthy lifestyle.

Lessons are age appropriate and the children will be covering a wide range of health related topics, ranging from the human body and how it works, healthy eating and nutrition, medicines and drugs, bullying, resilience and social skills.

Healthy Harold, the much loved Life Education giraffe mascot is always a much anticipated element of the visit. The sessions are always fun, interactive and really extend and develop the children’s understanding of the topics covered. We will be further broadening these topics in class both prior to and after the visit with the student workbook.

As a charity, Life Education relies heavily on the generosity of local organisations to keep its fleet of mobile learning centres on the road delivering positive health and life messages to over 200,000 children in Victoria alone.

The cost for this incursion is covered by the incursion/excursion levy. Please be aware that if you haven’t paid the levy please do so ASAP. Parent Information Session

As part of this visit a complimentary Parent Information Session is offered. The duration of the session is approximately 30 minutes and is held in the Mobile Learning Centre (MLC). This gives parents an opportunity to gain an understanding of what the students will experience during the session. Visit the Life Education mobile classroom on Tuesday 16th July from 9 to 9:30am.

Please complete and return the Parent Information Session attendance slip below to the school office.
