AN IDEAL LOCATION FOR ZINFANDEL
The gold rush of 1849 brought many fortune seekers to the area
of Sonoma County now known as Healdsburg. Among them was the
C.L. Lambert family, after whom the nearby Lambert Bridge is named.
The ranch, five miles northwest of the Healdsburg Square, stretched
from the top of the mountains to the east, to the center line of Dry
Creek Valley to the west.
The Lamberts built a large and beautiful Gothic Revival house on
their new homestead. The arrival of the railroad in 1871 allowed the
Lambert and surrounding ranchos to flourish. Prohibition (1920-1933)
created chaos in the wine industry. Over the years, parts of the ranch
were sold off.
The Manoukian family purchased the Gothic Revival home, now sunken
into total disrepair, and the surrounding 4.5 acres in the late 1990s,
quickly re-planting the historic property to three acres of zinfandel
from the old Mazzoni clone. Located in the middle of Dry Creek Valley,
the deep, extremely well-drained soil, in combination with the warm,
west-facing slopes of this upper benchland make this site an ideal
location for zinfandel.

RIDGE 2017LYTTON SPRINGS
74% ZINFANDEL
15% PETITE SIRAH
9% CARIGNANE
2% MATARO
Winemaker’s Notes:A season of
extreme weather began with heavy
winter rains that replenished the
water table. The vines rebounded
with a full crop, but record high
temperatures in July and August
reduced yields, especially in the
petite sirah. This concentrated
flavor and color, and after 14 months
in barrel, the wine is exceptionally
rich and complex. It will develop
more fully over the next ten years.

84% ZINFANDEL
7% PETITE SIRAH
7% ALICANTE BOUSCHET
2% MATARO
Winemaker’s Notes: Heavy
winter rains and a warm spring
created ideal growing conditions.
To even ripening, we dropped a
third of the crop in the young vines.
Always the last zinfandel vineyard
we harvest, 2017 was no exception.
We picked the young vines October
3rd and the old vines four days later.
Incredible concentration from the
old vines and the bright acidity
typical of this vineyard make this
wine enjoyable over the next ten
years. JO (8/18)
98% ZINFANDEL
2% PETITE SIRAH
Winemaker’s Notes:This vineyard,
in the cool Russian River Valley,
set a full crop that ripened evenly
despite a heat spike in late August
that caused sugars to rise rapidly.
We harvested all three vineyard
blocks by September 9th, three
weeks earlier than usual. The
old vines contribute depth and
richness; the young vines add
elegant, layered fruit. Enjoyable
upon release, this sumptuous
zinfandel will develop over the
next five years. JO (5/18)
F I R S T E V E R B O T T L I N G
95% ZINFANDEL
5% PETITE SIRAH
Winemaker’s Notes:This is our
first release from this small three
acre vineyard. Perched on the
benchland of Dry Creek Valley,
the twenty-year-old zinfandel vines
have small, compact clusters.
Seven days of fermentation
extracted plentiful color and full,
supple tannins. Fourteen months
aging in american oak adds
spice to the layered briary fruit.
Approachable as a young wine,
this exemplary zinfandel will
develop with a further six to
seven years of cellaring.
