Operating safety

G WARNINGIf you operate information systems andcommunication equipment integrated in thevehicle while driving, you will be distractedfrom traffic conditions. You could also losecontrol of the vehicle. There is a risk of anaccident.Only operate the equipment when the trafficsituation permits. If you are not sure that thisis possible, park the vehicle paying attentionto traffic conditions and operate theequipment when the vehicle is stationary.

In addition, observe the legal requirements ofthe country in which you are currently driving.

Proper use

Audio 15 can be used to receive radiostations, to play back SD memory cards andother data carriers and to make calls via theBluetooth® function. It can also be used forthe playback of the picture from the rear viewcamera and as a navigation system withBecker® MAP PILOT (optionally).Observe the requirements in the technicaldata for data carriers and permissibleformats.

Cleaning

To clean, use a slightly damp cloth. The clothmust be soft and lint-free. For stubborn dirt,you can use a mild cleaning agent. Inparticular, never clean the display withalcohol, acid or an abrasive cleaning agent.

i Audio 15 switches itself off automaticallywhen the condition of charge of the batteryis low.

i If Audio 15 is on while the ignition isswitched off, it will switch itself offautomatically after approximately 30minutes to save the vehicle battery.

Setting the volumeX Turn the o volume control duringplayback.

OrX Press theW orX button on themultifunction steering wheel.

Activating/deactivating the mutefunctionX Press the8 mute button.The sound from the audio source isswitched on or off. When the sound hasbeen muted, thex symbol is shown inthe status bar.

i If you change the audio source or adjustthe volume, the sound switches on againautomatically.

i When the mute function is active,playback from the SD memory card, USBdevice and BT audio is paused. When youdeactivate the mute function, playback willresume from the position where it waspaused.

i When the TA function is activated, youhear traffic reports even when the sound ismuted (Y page 27).

On vehicles without light

sensors, Audio 15 switches over to the on-board computer depending on the lightswitch setting and dimming setting.

Setting the time formati The time is set via the on-board computer,see the vehicle's Operating Instructions.On vehicles with a tachograph, the timemust be set on the tachographs.

The rear view camera is only an aid. It cannotreplace your own awareness of theimmediate surroundings. You are responsiblefor safe maneuvering and parking. Whenmaneuvering and parking, make sure thatthere are no persons, animals or objects inthe maneuvering area.Under the following circumstances, the rearview camera will not function, or will functionin a limited manner:Rthere is very heavy rain, snow or fogRat night or when the vehicle is in very darkplacesRif the camera is exposed to very bright lightRif the area is lit by fluorescent light or LEDlighting (the display may flicker)Rif there is a sudden change in temperature,e.g. when driving into a heated garage inwinter

Rif the camera lens is dirty or obstructedRthe rear of the vehicle is damaged. In thiscase, have the camera position and settingchecked at a qualified specialist workshop.

Rear view camera operationIf your vehicle is equipped with a rear viewcamera, the image from the rear view camerais relayed to the display when you engagereverse gear. Guide lines in the display(depending on the vehicle's equipment) helpyou with backing up.The rear view camera is only active when theignition is switched on.

Static guide linesDepending on the vehicle's equipment, therear view camera image displays static guidelines. These guide lines assist you withbacking up.The static guidelines have the followingmeanings:

Becker® MAP PILOT navigationmodule

With the Becker® MAP PILOT navigationmodule, you can upgrade Audio 15 to a fully-fledged navigation system.Further information can be found underhttp://www.beckermappilot.com.

GPS (Global Positioning System)

Position finding and route guidance takeplace using GPS (Global Positioning System).For this purpose, the navigation module hasan integrated GPS receiver that receives thesatellite signals and determines yourgeographical location.

i Without GPS reception, route guidance isnot possible.

Preparing navigation

Inserting the navigation moduleX Open the glove box.X Insert the navigation module into thedevice holder.The battery built into the navigationmodulestarts charging when the vehicle ignition isswitched on.

X Remove the catch on the front side of thedevice holder.This way, the navigationmodule is secured,as well as protected against theft.

What does pairing mean?When pairing, an authorized connection isestablished between Audio 15 and a mobilephone. Your mobile phone must be visible.Information on how to make your mobilephone visible can be found in the operatinginstructions of your mobile phone.If Audio 15 and your mobile phone are paired,they will connect automatically as soon asthere is a Bluetooth® connection.

i Audio 15 saves the pairing data of up to10 mobile phones. If an additional mobilephone is coupled, Audio 15 overwrites thepairing data for the mobile phone that has

not been connected to it for the longestperiod of time.

Connecting an external device

You may connect an external device and playit back via the loudspeakers. The AUX jackintended for this purpose (3.5 mm stereoaudio jack) is located in the stowagecompartment on the driver's side of thedashboard.X Connect an external device to the AUXjack.i An adapter cable is required for the AUXjack.

i If you connect an external device, Audio15 does not automatically switch over tothe AUX function.
