Who is NIP?
New information professional is:
● Recent graduate and/or student or
“newcomer”.
● “New” is not necessarily young!
● Specific group with specific needs,
knowledge, abilities and working habits.

established to protect interests of NIP.
● Often being a part of professional library
organizations: o British CILIP Career Development Group
o Latvian LLA Section of New Professionals
o U. S. LLAMA New Professionals Section

● Positive attitude towards further learning:o They prefered especially common professional
courses and seminars (83%)
o E-learning courses and webinars (75%)
o Self-education (42%)
● Majority of NIP (64%) would like to go
abroad for internship.

● No interest in membership in Czech
professional associations. o 7% of NIP are members of SKIP and 3% are
members of AKVŠ working groups
● 30% of NIP were interested in activities of
international associations such as IFLA or
LIBER.
