Currently, I manage Root Cause’s Social Innovation Forum, an annual capacity-building program for innovative, nonprofit organizations in the greater Boston area.

Every year, we partner with leading local funders to select and showcase a handful of these social innovators, each working to address a different social problem.

MY IMPACT

Since taking this job in June 2010, I have…

• Organized two Showcase events, each of which attracted more than 300 attendees

• Personally reviewed more than 200 applications and worked closely with 11 social innovators

• Brought together evaluation committees composed of 60+ philanthropists, foundation staff, businesspeople, and government officials for each the 2011 and 2012 application cycles

• Helped direct more than $8.5 million in cash and in-kind services to our social innovators

IN CONCLUSIONI expect to listen and learn from everyone – other StartingBloc fellows, StartingBloc staff, and guest speakers -- but I also expect to share my own knowledge, experiences, and friends’ email addresses as they can be helpful to others.

• I have deep knowledge of the greater Boston nonprofit “scene” and how intermediaries like Root Cause function within it;

• Expertise in grantmaking processes, market research, project management, event planning, communications, and website/database management; and

• A strong personal network
