These consisted of story telling, nursery rhymes or a life skills activity. We are continuously communicating with those parents whose children attend our centres. They are following these activities enthusiastically and we are happy to note that they are implementing them with their children in their homes. Name : Lindsay Fenech Age : 26 Role : Centre Coordinator, San Gwann What is your role in Klabb 3-16 and how long have been employed at the Klabb? I have been working with FES for the last couple of years. Last November, I became the Centre Coordinator at San Gwann Cen- tre. Together with the help of other team members, I coordinate the centre's administrative work. My main goal is that our chil- dren feel happy, comfortable and safe when using our facilities. It is also very important that their parents/guardians feel at home at our centre. All of the staff members work hard to en- sure that the activities delivered to our children are interesting, valuable and appropriate. I am also responsible for the organisa- tion of special activities inside and/or outside the school premis- es. Why do you like working at the Klabb? In the past few months, my new position has been very interesting and rewarding. It provided me with the opportunity to meet new people and try new things. I have been working on different projects that allow me to be creative and to continually learn new things. What are the challenges and satisfaction you face on a daily basis working at the Klabb? One of the challenges that the administrative team is faced with is the need to acquire new skills and knowledge to be able to perform certain tasks. Occasionally, we get assigned new tasks and we are requested to use and adapt new systems and procedures. However, even though this can be challenging, I feel that I have always received the needed support from the staff members at FES Head Office. I also have the opportunity to meet and discuss with the other Centre Coordinators and I feel that these meetings have helped me gain a better insight on how to deal with certain issues that might arise at Klabb 3-16. I am mostly satisfied when I see the Playworkers and Child Support Workers, working together as one team, to present the best experience for our service us- ers. I am happy to have so many hard-working and responsible individuals as part of our team. Tell us a story you remember most whilst working at the Klabb? One memorable episode is last year's end of Skola Sajf concert. At the time, I worked as a PER. I was so happy and proud of our students. They had been working on their performance for weeks and I was amazed by their originality and commitment. I was very appreciative of the help and guidance of the Playworkers and Child Support Workers. I was also very grateful for the parents' support. . Being part of these young peoplesenthusiastic smile had encouraged me to con- firm my application with Klabb 3-16. Mention a particular story/memory that you still remember to this day whilst working at the Klabb? In the past 10 months, I had several memories at Klabb 3-16 which I will treasure forever. One of my favourite memories is that of a shy student. She used to find it hard to speak up because she normally relies on her twin sister. By time, I noticed the pattern of these sisters, I decided that I wanted to help the little girl to start building independent skills and confidence. Through fun activities, she started to build trust and confidence, both with her peers and with me. As time went by, she started communicating on her own and without the need or assurance from her twin sister. This story is so treasurable. As one may observe, if you reach out to the children, they will start trusting you. I am sure that they will be thankful in the near future. Inspiring motivation behind the work with children There are several inspiring motivations behind the work with children. For me, the main motivation is that you see so many smiles on a daily basis. If you are having a bad day, they can definitely turn your frown into a smile in an instant.
