DETAILED PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

DAY 1 - Wednesday

Melbourne /Sydney – Johannesburg

Afternoon

Depart from Melbourne / Sydney International Airport for your flight to OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. Here I suggest you all use the same Travel Agent so that all are on the same plane. These Return International Flights are not included in the Tour Cost.

DAY 2 - Thursday

Melbourne / Sydney – Johannesburg

Morning

Arrive at OR Tambo International Airport. This can be on any airline, so long as you land at OR Tambo International between about 09h00 and 16h00 on this day. You then clear customs, collect your luggage and proceed to the Shuttle Terminal. Here you catch the “Peermont Shuttle” which departs every 20 minutes and is a Free Service. You then tell the driver that you are going to the Peermont Mondior Hotel. Met by Dirk Joubert of DJ Tours & Safaris. I will personally be there as I will be the guide for the duration of the Tour. I will then check you in at the Hotel for this night.

Depending on arrival time, you will have the afternoon to relax and recover from your long flight.

This evening we have our Welcome Dinner (drinks not included), which will be in the Hotel/Casino Complex, at a restaurant called Tribes.

DAY 3 - Friday

Johannesburg – Harare - Pamuzinda

Breakfast / Morning

07h00 - Breakfast at the Hotel. 07h40 and 08h00 – Take Shuttle to the Airport.

10h45 - Catch your flight SA 22 to Harare. Please take note of the weight

Limitation of 23 Kg and 7 Kg Hand Luggage.

Lunch / Afternoon

12h15 – Land at Harare International Airport, clear customs, get the Visa

($30/$50 cash) and be met by our representatives in Zimbabwe. Road transfer

through the capital city to Pamuzinda Safari Lodge, situated on 13,000 acres of

pristine wild life habitat just an hour from Harare.

Spend the afternoon relaxing with the option of an activity before a “Welcome to

Africa” barbeque dinner, with a dance show presented by local traditional

dancers.

DAY 4 - Saturday

Pamuzinda

Breakfast / Morning

After a restful night’s sleep, enjoy a relaxing hot beverage from the room’s

private balcony, overlooking the Serui River.

There are a variety of activities to choose from, after a scrumptious breakfast –

including a gentle canoe up the Serui River or explore the Pamuzinda game

reserve with a guide on a game drive / game walk or for the more adventurous,

on horseback.

Lunch / Afternoon

A siesta after lunch to recharge, before joining the afternoon game drive, ending

at Ayres Rock for a sundowner drink.

DAY 5 – Sunday

Pamuzinda – Mana Pools

Breakfast / Morning

Early breakfast before a +- 2-hour road transfer to Chinhoyi Caves, a IUCN

Category II protected area. These are a group of limestone and dolomite caves

and tunnels, with sink and swallow holes. The walls of the Wonder Hole drop

down vertically 45m to the sunlit Sleeping Pool, which is breathtakingly beautiful,

with cobalt blue, crystal clear allowing visibility of around 50m of its total depth

of 80m-90m.

Lunch / Afternoon

A short drive from the caves brings us to Lion’s Den, for a mouth-watering selection of burgers and rolls, before the +- 4-hour drive down into the Zambezi Valley, meeting the game drive vehicles which will take guests on a 30-min game drive to Greater Mana Tented Camp. Late afternoon game viewing activity ending with a sundowner on the banks of the Zambezi.

DAY 6 - Monday

Mana Pools

Breakfast / Morning

Early breakfast before boarding a tender boat, to cruise to the Nyakasanga River, on the border of the Mana Pools National Park – where game drive vehicles will take guests on a full day game viewing and birding within this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Lunch / Afternoon

Lunch will be a picnic in the park before being dropped back at the Nyakasanga River for a sedate sunset cruise back to camp.

Evening / Dinner

Dinner is at the Camp.

Greater Mana Tented Camp.


Day 7 – Tuesday

Mana Pools – Kariba (Kariba Safari Lodge)

Breakfast / Morning

Following breakfast, a +- 2½ hour road transfer will take guests to Kariba Safari Lodge.

Lunch / Afternoon

Lunch will be served from an elevated deck, overlooking the iconic lake. An afternoon spent relaxing at the lodge by the swimming pool before an evening beach braai in front of the lodge.

Day 8 - Wednesday

Kariba

Breakfast / Morning

Breakfast at the Lodge. Morning Tour of Kariba Town, including a visit to the impressive dam wall (128m high and 579m long) and the unique Church of Santa Barbara, situated on the hill overlooking the lake, known as Kariba Heights. This church was built by the workers and engineers who worked on the dam wall, as a memorial to those who lost their lives during the construction of the dam wall. From the Kariba Heights viewing point, 600m above the lake, approximately 1,000km² or just under 20% of the total area of the lake is often visible! Winding back down the hill, via the local flea market and small shopping centre in the high-density suburb of Mahombekombe, the tour ends back to the lodge.

Day 9 – Thursday

Kariba – Matusadona (Rhino Safari Camp/Bumi Hills)

Breakfast / Morning

After a leisurely breakfast, guests will be collected by speed boats for an hour boat transfer to Rhino or Bumi Hills Safari Camp in the Matusadona National Park.

Lunch / Afternoon

Lunch will be served in camp and the afternoon is spent exploring the

Matusadona National Park shoreline, before a relaxing evening drink around a

bon fire.

Day 11 – Saturday

Matusadona (Rhino Safari Camp/Bumi Hills) – Ume River

Breakfast in Camp – Then start Cruise by Houseboat up the Ume River

Lunch / Afternoon

Afternoon fishing in the Ume River – Late afternoon sundowners and snacks and tender boats.

Dinner is on Board.

Day 12 – Sunday

Ume River – Crocodile Creek

Breakfast / Morning

Early Morning Boat Based Activities before returning for a hearty breakfast/ brunch before a short cruise to Crocodile Creek.

Evening / Dinner

Evening sundowners and snacks, compliment a tranquil end to the day whilst

watching a legendary Kariba sunset with dinner on board.

Day 13 – Monday

Crocodile Creek – Sengwe River

Breakfast / Morning

Pre-dawn departure will see us cruising for +- 13 hours through the Kota Kota Narrows and into the expansive Sengwa Basin with breakfast and lunch being served on board.

Lunch / Afternoon

A day of relaxing and taking in the immense size of the lake, cruising halfway down the iconic body of water, to the Sengwe River system.

Evening / Dinner

After the vessel moors on the shoreline, the afternoon / evening will be spent on

tender boat exploring this wild, remote area with its abundant bird life and

magnificent scenery.

Day 14 - Tuesday

Sengwe River – Binga – Hwange Safari Lodge

Breakfast / Morning

Continental breakfast will be served on a tender boat, whilst winding down the

Sengwe River, encountering the resident hippos and crocodiles and other wildlife in

the area.

Brunch will be served back on board, during the final +- 3½ hour cruise into Binga, in

the heart of Tonga tribal land.

Lunch / Afternoon

Disembark by mid-day for a three-hour road transfer through remote and sparsely

populated rural lands of Matabeleland North to Hwange Safari Lodge, passing the

gorges of the Gwaai River and Kamativi, which is home to what was one of the

largest tin mines in Zimbabwe.

Evening / Dinner

Check into the Hwange Safari Lodge, which will be your home for the next 3 nights. Dinner is at the Lodge.

Day 15 – Wednesday

Hwange Safari Lodge

Early Morning Game Drive. Breakfast at the Lodge. The next two days will be spent doing 2 Game Drives per day, as well as considering some of the optional activities offered there. These include things like a Village Tour ($45 per person), Visit to the Painted Dog Conservation and Rehabilitation Centre ($10 per person), Night Game Drives ($35 per person), Horse Riding (Rate to be confirmed) and Guided Game Walks (Rate to be confirmed).

Lunch is included and at the Lodge. Time at leisure or Optional Activities. Late Afternoon Game Drive.

Hwange Safari Lodge

DAY 17 – Friday

Hwange Safari Lodge – Victoria Falls

Breakfast / Morning

Breakfast at the Lodge. After Breakfast, we transfer by Road to Victoria Falls. It is about a 3 Hour Trip.

Lunch / Afternoon

Arrive in the Town of Victoria Falls and check into the 4 Star Kingdom Hotel, which will be your home for the next and last three nights of the Tour. This Hotel is just a few hundred meters away from the Entrance to the Victoria Falls. Afternoon at Leisure to visit the Falls.

Evening / Dinner

Dinner (Own expense) is at the Hotel or at any of the Local Restaurants.

DAY 18 - Saturday

Victoria Falls

Breakfast / Morning

Breakfast at the Hotel. Full day viewing of the Magnificent Victoria falls. Victoria Falls is the only waterfall in the world with a length of more than a kilometre and a height of more than hundred meters. It is also considered to be the largest fall in the world. Scottish missionary and famous explorer of Africa David Livingstone (1813-1873) named it after Queen Victoria. Livingstone who was the first European to cross Africa from south to north discovered this awe-inspiring waterfall in 1855, while preaching Christianity in Africa.

Lunch / Afternoon

The noise of Victoria Falls can be heard from a distance of 40 kilometres, while the spray and mist from the falling water is rising to a height of over 400 meters and can be seen from a distance of 50 kilometres. No wonder that the local tribes used to call the waterfall Mosi-o-Tunya “The smoke that thunders”.

DAY 19 – Sunday

Victoria Falls

Breakfast at the Hotel. Today is a day at leisure. You have the option of just relaxing around the pool, walking around the town, viewing the Falls again or opting for any one of the optional extras that are available for Guests. I will offer these options with prices to all Guests and I will then book them for you, via the Hotel Reception. These include the following: Helicopter or Micro-Light Flights over the falls, River Rafting, Bungee Jumping, Bridge Swing or Zipline, Devils Pools (need to cross into Zambia), etc.

REGARDING PRICE

• All prices quoted are based on tariffs & fares currently available, therefore these prices are subject to change without prior notification.

MALARIA

• It is essential that Malaria Precautions / Medication is taken prior to this Tour. Please consult your own Pharmacy and or Doctor about this. It is Your Decision whether to take this or not.

Tour Cost:

I will invoice you for payment in ZAR (South African Rand). Your cost in AUS will depend on the

exchange Rate. Now, as of July 2017, it is about R10.20 for AUS1. So, work on R10 for 1 AUS.

Total Tour Cost is R1 439 602.38

That is based on 18 persons Touring. The cost is based on 9 Couples in Double/Twin Rooms. If the

composition of the Touring Party is different, I will re-quote.

This the equates to R79 995 per person sharing or AUD7 995 per person.

This excludes your International Flights. These are for your own arrangement and Cost. Suggest you

get one Travel Agent to do all the flights, ensuring that all pax are on the same flight. Fly in to OR

Tambo (Johannesburg) and back.

This includes all accommodation in 4 star hotels and Lodges as per the itinerary. It is virtually Full

Board (Breakfast, Lunches and Dinners) apart from Victoria falls. All Entrance Fees as per the

itinerary, all game drives, transfers, boat trips, are included.

Visas:

Australian Passport holders do require a Visa. BUT this is very easy. When you land in Harare, you go

to the visa Counter and pay for the visa in CASH ONLY. This must be USD. The Zimbabwe Visa cost

$30 and some of you might want to cross into Zambia on the last free day at the Vic Falls, then you

will take out a multiple entry visa (Univisa) which costs $50.

Malaria:

Zimbabwe in the Winter months is in a “Low Risk Malaria Area”. It is your decision whether to take

the precautionary medication or not. Please consult your doctor or pharmacy about this.

DJ Tours & Safaris takes no responsibility for any person getting Malaria while on this Tour.

Transport:

All Transfers, Boast Voyages, Game Drive vehicles and Return Flights from Johannesburg and back

are included. Please note the weight limitations on this flight. 23 Kg Luggage and 7 Kg Hand Luggage.

Meals:

The Tour is virtually Full Board (Breakfast, Lunches and Dinners) apart from about 5blunches and 2 dinners. Drinks: In most cases, all drinks are excluded at meals. On 7 days, local beverages are included with meals. Wi-Fi:
