By Apostle Brian E. McIndoo

For those who longed to seeGod’s outpouring of blessingon the church as it was in the

days of old, the time is at hand. Lit-erally, thousands have joinedthemselves to the Body of Christ, through repentance and baptism. There should be no questions con-cerning these conversions, butonly praise to God for them.

I am reminded of a story inthe Book of Mormon when a simi-lar event took place. The story en-courages me to see the reason be-hind the blessings. The story be-gins when Helaman takes his placein the judgment seat over the peo-ple. Although armed with power,he remained humble and judged

with justice and equity. His great-est qualities were that he kept thestatutes and commandments ofGod, and did what was right in thesight of God continually. Becauseof this, the church prospered. Weread:

“And it came to pass that inthis same year, there was exceed-ing great prosperity in thechurch, insomuch that therewere thousands who did jointhemselves unto the church, andwere baptized unto repentance; And so great was the prosperityof the church, and so many theblessings which were poured outupon the people, that even thehigh priests and the teacherswere themselves astonished be-yond measure. And it came topass that the work of the Lorddid prosper unto the baptizingand uniting to the church ofGod, many souls; yea, even tensof thousands” Hel. 2:22-24.

I, too, am astonished, but rec-ognize that the prosperity of thechurch in this day is due to thechurch making an effort to do whatis right in the sight of God. Thus,we see thousands of conversions.

I can only speak firsthandabout the work in Africa, althoughI have heard similar reports fromthe missionaries of other missions.I have seen the work flourish andmany blessings poured out due tomany visitors, including women,

young adults and teenagers whohave given of their time and moneyto go encourage their brothers andsisters in Africa. A great deal of ef-fort was made over the past year toprint the Kitabu Cha Mormoni(Book of Mormon) in Swahili. InOctober of this year, I was pleasedto hand out the Book of Mormon toour brothers and sisters who spokeonly Swahili and their nativetongue. My joy was complete whenthey stood up and read some oftheir favorite passages from theBook of Mormon only a few days af-ter they received them.

We have been buildingchurches as the funds permit, inKenya and Nigeria, and continueto reach out to new locations andgroups in Kenya, Tanzania, Demo-cratic Republic of the Congo, Nige-ria and Uganda. It is a joy to findpeople who thirst for the Word ofGod and accept truth when theyhear it.

As the work continues togrow, we should all make it an ear-nest matter of prayer for addi-tional ministry to be called intoGod’s service. Such petitionsshould not be made only for Africa, but the entire world where God’speople meet together without anordained minister to perform theordinances of the Gospel.

By Teacher Moses Nyamira

Dear Brothers and Sis-ters,

It is a good time again toshare with you the last part ofmy testimony, which I wrotein February of 2004.

Now after I received bap-tism there was a very bigchange in me because I re-ceived the gift of the HolyGhost. So this time I decidedto carry the Book of Mormonand the Bible on my walkingways, while the missionarieswere already back in theircountry. Now what I did, Iwent to Moja Kwa Moja(straight ahead) to the broth-

ers and sisters to explain tothem what I had met andwhat was the meaning of theBook. When they took heedto all I told them, lastly theysaid that they had agreedeven though they had manyquestions. From there westarted to meet often, accord-ing to the days we agreed tofellowship. This time I hadan opportunity to teach con-cerning our church, the Apos-tasy and the Restoration.

When we were continu-ing to meet at one of our sis-ter’s home, something hap-pened; the same sister was at-tacked by malaria, and lateron she was possessed with de-mons, and she started proph-esying things which seemedto be right to the outsiders.Through this we got manyoppositions from the sur-rounding people, mostly fromdifferent churches.

Now she started runninghere and there shouting that,“Everybody be aware of thedemonic church which hascome here, and very soon itwill take your children todrink blood; already theyhave started to drink myblood because I had started to

feel weak in my body.” Shealso added, “There is a bookthey have and there is a snakeinside, you’ll see it when youburn the book.”

Brethren, may I tell youthis time the hand of God andHis power were upon uswhere God helped us, whenwe didn’t stop meeting topray day by day at her home.People were astonished be-cause they were seeing us dayby day without yelling. Thistime her husband was notaround; he was in the town ofKericho where he was work-ing. May I say that it was adifficult and hard time ofwhich I can’t explain.

One day I walked to herhome where she was bornand this time she had beentaken with her father. In thetime I intended to enter inthe house where she was shestarted to tell me that, “Youare a devil worshiper, so whatI can help you is go and burnthat book which you have.”

This is the time I experi-enced the power of God.When she was still talkingthose broken words sheadded not to touch her. In myheart I started to tell God

that, “I know my God, you’llnot leave me alone and it isthe time You have to showYour mighty power towardsYour children.”

When I finished this si-lent prayer I felt much powerin me, and it forced me topray in a loud voice by rebuk-ing the devil and his demons. In the time I finished prayingI found that sister lying downand in a small voice she wastalking, “God forgive me.”After this I stretched myhand and lifted her up and Itold her, “Get silence, Godhas forgiven your sins as youhave prayed.” From thattime that sister was normaland from there she is in thechurch and she is okay.

Few days finished andanother chapter raised.Preachers from differentchurches started to tell peo-ple about me and the church Ibelong to is a demonicchurch. They went as far asto report to the chief how ourchurch was eating childrenand drinking blood. Thechief was ready to take meinto prison, but he changedhis mind and decided that hewas to do investigation first. This time was a hard time tome because in our housethere was none to come evento visit us. Not only that, when I tried to walk on theroad if somebody was comingin front of me and noticedthat I was the one coming infront of him or her, he or she

was to find a way to escape.Bad luck during that time, there was rumors all over thecountry of stealing children.

One day I went withBrother Michael to the vil-lage of Kebabe where we hada gospel meeting. At the timewe left home people went tomy home and told my wifethat “your husband has beenfound in a certain town with achild running, and he waschased with people who tookhim to prison and for a shorttime they didn’t find him inprison.”

So this thing troubled mywife and she was confused be-cause she knew that I was atKebabe. When we returnedhome my wife was surprisedand happy to see me again be-cause they had told her thatpeople were going to wait forme on the way to kill me. Sothis time we stayed in fear es-pecially in my house. Theonly thing we did this time wejust trusted in God to protectus.

After a few days I heard awarning that in the time achild was lost from my areapeople were to come and burnme, my wife, my children, and my everything. In factwe had a hard life, especiallyto the members, because wewere praying to God to pro-tect our members and theirchildren such that the devilmay not have a chance to killthem. But I thank God be-cause He heard our prayers

and really He granted Hisprotection to everybody(Psalms 23).

So there is nothing hap-pening around my area likestealing children and I thankGod of that because I haveseen His hand towards me upto now. From there God haschanged things because wehave a big number of peoplewho had agreed with the Gos-pel we are preaching by testi-fying that it is true, eventhough they have not joinedthe church.

It is when I came to knowthat it is true as the scripturesays:

“I know thy works: behold,I have set before thee an opendoor, and no man can shut it:for thou hast a littlestrength, and hast kept myword, and hast not deniedmy name.

“Behold, I will make themof the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, andare not, but do lie; behold, Iwill make them to come andworship before thy feet, andto know that I have lovedthee” (Revelation 3:8-9).

May God Bless you whenyou read these testimonies.

Thank you,Teacher Moses Nyamira

CHURCH OF CHRIST IN

NIGERIA, AFRICA

Dear Brothers and Sisters,On September 20, 2005, I

had the privilege of traveling toNigeria with Apostle SmithBrickhouse. We arrived inLagos after approximately 17hours of travel. We met withour Nigerian brothers at theairport to take us to where wewould spend the night. Therewere many to welcome us. Aftera good night’s sleep, we hadbreakfast and set off to our des-tination, Ibadan. The drive wasscenic, with plenty of palm, ba-nana and orange trees. Onerule of the road here, the hornmust work before the car goesinto gear. The people seem to be

a simple, non-complicated typewith a happy spirit. When wearrived in Ibadan we checkedinto our hotel and then headedto the church’s office that wasnearby. We met with the leadersof three congregations: JosephAluko, Joseph Amoo, Samuel,Greg and David. A schedule ofplans for each day was decided, along with any issues towardsorganizing the work here. Thatfirst afternoon we met at theAlundi mission for services.During my first sermon, a tor-rential rain made it difficult forthe congregation to hear themessage. Brother Smith had

the privilege of performing ababy blessing.

Over the next several dayswe had meetings at the officewith the leaders and two others,Paul and Simon, who are fromtwo separate villages that areinterested in the Church ofChrist. We studied many sub-jects with them with the pur-pose to take the informationback to their congregations.

There were twenty inter-ested candidates for baptismbetween the three congrega-tions, so we had three baptismstudies in order to understand

the knowledge and desire ofeach individual.

We had the opportunity tovisit the town of Adu, about twohours from Ibadan. Samueldrove us in his brother’s carthat he graciously loaned to us.We were able to visit with someof the members there and speakwith interested individuals aswell. We were able to open upthe church building and holdservices. Once again, it rained. We had no power for lights, sowe moved the pulpit near thedoor, where there was still somedaylight. Both Smith and I

preached here. We also visitedwith a man who recently lost hiswife in an auto accident, leavingthree young children, one beinga newborn. We asked a blessingupon his family.

A plan was laid out forSamuel to visit Adu every otherweek. Thankfully, Samuel has ayoung man named Michael inhis congregation who can leadservices for him in his absence. When we left Adu and headedback to Ibadan, we had a break-down, just a tire. Our brotherstook care of it and we were onour way. The rough roads can

make quick work of a tire.On the day of the baptisms,

a nice spot had been found. Theleaders, members and candi-dates all met and we gathered atthe lake. We opened the baptismservice with prayer, and one byone they entered the water. Ac-cording to the Lord’s blessingthe rain held off until we hadfinished with the laying on ofhands for the Holy Spirit. Webelieve that the work will flour-ish here and there will be manymore souls won through Christ. There is a great need for minis-

try to be called; however, inGod’s time.

We had sacrament servicesat the Acobo, Alundi and Arissamissions. We enjoyed the sweetspirit with each of these groupsof brothers and sisters. In thisarea there are many denomina-tions teaching different doc-trines. These people always ap-preciate hearing the fullness ofthe gospel and Christ’s teach-ings from all those who havevisited them from the Church ofChrist. We ask an interest inyour prayers for this area of the

Master’s vineyard. I hope tovisit these dear people onceagain. As we departed forhome, we were asked to telltheir brothers and sisters inAmerica that they love them, and to say “Hello.”

Your brother in Christ,

My Safari to AfricaBy Michelle Ely

Ihave been blessed to have hadthe opportunity to visit

Kenya twice and Tanzania once.I’ve been at church services insixteen different congregations, and many of them I’ve been ableto visit twice. I thank God forthese opportunities. I have hadmany wonderful experiences, and am left with many fondmemories. I have many friendsin Africa now who hold a veryspecial place in my heart. Theywelcome us into their homes andtheir churches with much loveand kindness. In a song servicethe other night in Phoenixsomeone called for the song“Pass Me Not.” My eyes filledwith tears as we sang this songbecause we sang this same song

many times in the services in Af-rica. I could hear my brothersand sisters in Africa singing“Yesu, Yesu” (Savior, Savior) inmy mind, and it made me missthem very much. I will alwaysthink of them now when I hearthat song.

This year I was filled withjoy to be able to watch Brian giveout Book of Mormons translatedinto Swahili to my brothers andsisters. It was a wonderful bless-ing for the Church of Christ, andthey were very happy to receivethem.

I was able to see the hand ofGod working in Africa. I couldsee the dedication of our minis-try and leaders working amongthe people to further spread thegospel. This year we had ser-vices in a place called

Nyamecheo. We don’t havemembers there yet, but MosesNyamira (whom we fondly callPeter Moses) has been goingthere and teaching the peopleand there is much interest.

The last time I went toKenya we didn’t have any mem-bers of the Church of Christfrom the Maasai tribe, but thisyear we did. We had a servicewith them this year and I couldfeel the spirit of God with us thatday. I’ve also been able to seemuch of God’s creation duringthe time I’ve spent in Africa. I’vebeen to the Mara Game Preserveand have seen many different an-imals. I’ve seen Lake Victoria,

the Rift Valley, and Kilimanjaro.I was thankful to be able to see allthese things.

The people I’ve met and theexperiences I’ve had in Africahave touched my life greatly. Myoutlook on life, the things I value, and the desires of my heart have

all changed. My life has beengreatly blessed by being able tospend time in Africa. I will al-ways thank the Lord for thattime.
