Some Aspects of Biomass Trade in CE
Bioenergy is currently the most important RES in CE, will be essential for achieving 2020 targets
PP countries have high domestic potential, in some countries only sparsely utilised (e.g. IT, HU, PL, SK)
Trade activities mostly concentrate on CE and neighbouring countries (Ukraine, Russia, Sweden etc.), only minor imports of bioliquids from Asia
Traded fractions are mostly refined biomass products like pellets, wood chips, biofuels for transport
IT has particularly high biomass imports, AT and DE are large exporters of pellets
(4Biomass, Tempel 2010)

– Collect competent institutions under one roof (to know each other)
– Supports international and national cooperation– Supports exchange of information about best
practices, new technologies and other ways of biomass utilization
• Under development... Pending questions:– Internet based tool?– How we can induce stakeholders to use it?– How it can be maintained after
the duration of 4Biomass?
