POSITION BREAKDOWN
PIT_DEL (ML – 126.750): Responsible for the ATIS. Handling ALL departing
aircraft. IFR or VFR get clearance from you. ALL IFR departure must get the
PIT1 departure with a valid departure gate. All aircraft, no matter navigation type,
are able to accept that departure. With that in mind, all IFR jets are to maintain
5,000 and IFR props maintain 4,000. VFR jets will be assigned to maintain 5,000
on departure (no at or below. TRACON will handle that later in their flight). VFR
props will be assigned to maintain 3,000 on departure (no at or below. TRACON
will handle that later in their flight). VFR traffic pattern aircraft are assigned a
squawk code only. No departure frequency or altitude. ALL ASSIGNED
INITIAL ALTITUDES DO NOT DEPEND ON THE AIRCRAFT FINAL
REQUESTED ALTITUDE. VFR JETS REQUESTING TO CRUISE AT 4,000
ARE ASSIGNED 5,000.
PIT_GND (SM – 121.900): Handling all movement areas. VFR to the EAST and
SOUTH depart 28C. VFR departures to the NORTH and to the WEST are
assigned 28R. Taxi sequencing should be used to expedite departures. KPIT is
NOT equipped with ASD-X. Aircraft should not squawk mode C on ramps or
taxiways. Pilots should be reminded to squawk mode C when being handed off to
tower only. Monitor aircraft positions to ensure runway infringement is not to
occur. Any intersection departures requested from any aircraft must be
coordinated with local control. Ground will not be split. Ground will have control
of all taxiway north of runway 28C/10C and south of 28R/10L. Any other taxiway
are controlled by local control.
PIT_TWR (JL – 128.300): VERIFY ALL AIRCRAFT ARE SQUAWKING
MODE C PRIOR TO DEPARTURE CLEARANCE. Responsible for all runways
and all taxiing aircraft requesting to cross runways. Responsible for all taxiways
north of 10L/28R and south of 10C/28C. Intersection departures are permitted.
Automatic releases are in effect. All arriving aircraft can be radar accepted from
the appropriate TRACON controller. All VFR departures can be radar handled by
tower until on course where at that time tower will initiate a radar hand-off to the
appropriate departure controller for further services. Headings for all departures
are as follows:
IFR JETS on PIT1:
EWC, REC, JST: heading 360 after departure
BSV, TVT, DILNE: runway heading
AHITY, HLG, AIR, BURGS, CKB, AGC, MGW: heading 180 after
departure
IFR PROPS on PIT1:
Same as above
VFR AIRCRAFT:
Requesting East or South depart 28C and are given heading 180.
Requesting West or North depart 28R and are given heading 360.
All go-arounds are given runway heading and assigned 4,000 feet no matter
aircraft type. All go-around are then given to PIT_N_DEP or PIT_S_DEP
depending on arrival runway.
