BIOGRAPHICALIHISTORICAL NOTES: The 25th Infantry Divisionwas created from the Hawaiian Division of the United States Army. Its history includesparticipation in World War II, the occupation of Japan, the Korean War, the VietnamWar, the Gulf War, and the "Uphold Democracy" deployment in Haiti. The Division isoften referred to as "Tropic Lightning."

SUMMARY OF SUBJECT AND MATERIALS: The 25th Infantry DivisionAssociation of the United States Army has donated materials chiefly concerning theVietnam War, but also from World War II, the Korean War, and more recent activities ofthe division. Official military reports and personal recollections of Vietnam make up thebulk of the collection. Other materials include maps, photographs, personal letters,academic papers, news clippings, etc. A large part of the collection was donated byJoseph Grasso, past president of the 25th Inf. Div. Assn.
