For those who were not there, you cannot imagine the enthusiasm and the absolutely electric feel-ing of hundreds of thou-sands of Seventh-day Ad-ventists going out in one day to deliver one book and meeting again at the end of the day. That book, which Ellen G. White indicated was the one she wanted to see circulated more than any other, is The Great Con-troversy.

Let me tell you, last S a b b a t h ( M a r c h 24) your b r o t h -ers and sisters in Sao Paulo exceeded what even their leaders had hoped. Across that vast division of South America 25 million copies were distributed, with over 4 million copies in Sao Paulo alone. And this was just a part of the 70 million copies they hope to distrib-ute over the next two years.

I had the honor of participating in the distribution in Sao Paulo. At the end

of the day, we all met in the center of the city in a huge square used

for big rallies. The square was filled with 60,000 Sev-enth-day Ad-ventists, all of whom had been out dis-tributing The

Great Controversy that day. Everyone was so excited and happy—I tell you, that was a demonstration that these people knew Jesus.

It was electric, and I hope that many other divisions will follow suit and participate in this extraordinary op-portunity for people to reach out to others. One thing we as Seventh-day

Adventists need to reemphasize is to keep reaching out to our neighbors

and loved ones.

Also during this trip, we visited the Brazil Ad-ventist University Academy cam-pus in Sao Pau-lo. While there, they showed one of the most touching videos I’ve seen in a long time. This precious lady’s

15-year-old daughter found The Great Hope in their mailbox. The daughter was so excited that she read it and gave to her mother and they became enamored with its beautiful truths. Then they found the local Adventist church through the book and realized this was what they had been waiting for all their lives.

The lady was so emotional as she told her story on the video that her crying brought tears to the eyes of everyone watching. When the video was over, these two ladies were introduced to us in person. It was absolutely thrill-ing.Ted N.C. Wilson | President, General Conference

Те из вас, кто там не был, могут представить энтузиазм и невероятно воодушевляющее чувство сотен тысяч адвентистов седьмого дня, ко-торые вышли все вместе в один день, чтобы распространять одну книгу и встретиться в кон-це того же дня. Относительно этой книги Эллен Уайт вырази-ла желание, чтобы она распро-странялась больше других, и этой книгой является «Великая борьба».

Х о ч у вас уверить, что в суббо-ту, 24 марта ваши братья и сестры в С а н - П а у л у п р е в з о ш л и все ожида-ния своих руководите-лей. Затем с помощью книги они нашли местную адвентистскую цер-ковь и поняли: это то, чего они ожидали всю свою жизнь.

The Great Hope in the Falkland Islands

500,000 Books in Quito, Ecuador

A group of six individuals from Chile has undertaken the task of distribut-ing The Great Hope in the Falkland Islands. The project was coordinat-ed by the p u b l i c a -tions de-par tment of Chilean Union in con junc-tion with the Uni-versity Ex-tension program, Adventist University of Chile in the Falklands Islands.

In order to have enough books to leave one in every home, 400 in Eng-

lish and 200 in Spanish were ordered from Stanborough Press in England. Stanborough also sent an extra 100 books as a gift, which was much ap-

preciated. The books arrived on Tuesday, March 20, and dis-t r i b u t i o n began on March 21.

Residents of the Falklands are very friendly, but not very open to spiritual matters. Because of this, the group decided to start by delivering books to people with whom they had already

On March 24, Adventists in Ecuador distributed 500,000 copies of The Great Hope in the city of Quito. An average of 50 books each were dis-tributed by 10,000 Adventists. To as-semble a distribution force this large, many members came to Quito by bus from surrounding areas, some travel-ing as many as 15 hours.

Preparation was made for this event t h r o u g h prayer meet-ings, fasting, and visit-ing the city’s leaders to give them a d v a n c e copies of the book. One week before the distribu-tion, the Adventist youth of Quito be-

gan going up to the mountains sur-rounding the city at night in order to pray for the project as they looked

down on the lights of the city.

Then, on S a b b a t h m o r n i n g , March 24, the mem-bers gath-

ered for a worship service—including a sermon by GCP coordinator for the

world church, Delbert Baker—before dividing into teams of two to distrib-ute books in their assigned neigh-

borhoods. At the end of the day, the pastors of Quito passed the torch to the pastors of Guayaquil, where a similar one-day distri-

bution of 700,000 books is planned for next year.

Ecuador Union Conference President Leonel Lozano was very pleased that so many members had participated in the day’s events. Those who took part in this project agreed that this was the biggest event ever for the Adventist Church in Ecuador.Almir Marroni | Vice President, South American Division

500 тысяч книг в Кито, Эквадор

24 марта адвентисты Эквадора рас-пространили 500 тысяч экземпляров «Великой борьбы» в столичном городе Кито. В среднем каждый адвентист рас-пространил 50 книг. Чтобы собралось такое количество людей, многие при-ехали в Кито автобусами из соседних районов. Некоторые провели в дороге около 15 часов.

Для под-готовки к это-му событию были прове-дены молит-венные со-брания, пост и посещение ру ко в о д и те-лей города с целью зара-нее вручить им экземпляры книги. За неделю до распространения адвентистская моло-

дежь Кито начала выходить в вечернее время в окружающие город горы, что-бы молиться о проекте, глядя с высоты на огни столицы.

Затем, п р е ж д е чем раз-д е л и т ь с я на группы по двое для рас-п р о с т р а -нения книг

на своих закрепленных территориях, члены Церкви собрались субботним

утром 24 марта на богослужение, кото-рое включало проповедь координатора ПВБ всемирной Церкви Дерека Бейке-ра. В конце дня пасторы Кито передали

факел – еван-гельскую эста-фету - пасторам Гуаякиля, где запланировано подобное одно-дневное распро-странение 700

тысяч книг в следующем году.Президент Эквадорской Унион-

ной Конференции Леонел Лозано был счастлив видеть, что в событиях того дня приняло участие так много членов Церкви. Все участники проекта призна-ли, что это было величайшее событие для адвентистской церкви в Эквадоре.

«Великая надежда» на Фолклендских островах

Группа из шести чилийцев постави-ла перед собой задачу распространить «Великую борьбу» на Фолклендских островах. Этот проект координировал-ся издательским отделом Чилийского Униона при в з а и м о -действии с «Програм-мой по ока-занию по-мощи Фол-клендским о ст р о ва м » адвентист-ского университета в Чили.

Чтобы оставить по одной книге в каждом доме, в издательстве «Станбо-ро» (Англия) было заказано 400 книг

на английском и 200 на испанском языках. «Станборо» также прислало до-полнительные 100 книг в качестве по-дарка, что братья высоко оценили. Кни-ги прибыли во вторник, 20 марта, а их

распростра-нение на-чалось 21 марта. Жи-тели остро-вов весьма дружелюб-ны, но не очень от-крыты для
