TY-FLOT IS PROUD TO PARTICIPATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEW ISEA/ANSI 121 DROPPED OBJECTS PREVENTION STANDARD SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE IN 2018

ISEA and leading safety equipment manufacturers have joined together to standardize the solutions available to protect workers from objects falling from heights. These objects include hand tools, instrumentation, small parts, structural components and other items that have to be transferred and used at heights; and the implications from struck-by injuries can range from inconvenience or loss of productivity to life-altering injury or death and damage to equipment or facilities. This is especially important in oil and gas, construction, energy and telecommunications infrastructure, shipping operations and aviation industries, where elevated work areas are common.

The objective is to provide employers with a document, ANSI/ISEA 121 Dropped Object Prevention Standard, that establishes minimum design, performance, and labeling requirements for solutions that reduce dropped objects incidents in industrial and occupational settings. An industry first, the proposed standard will focus on preventative solutions actively used by workers to mitigate these hazards, and testing of these solutions.

Inflatable Bag Plugs For extra safety ask for inflatable plugs with attached tethers. Inflatable plugs have the capacity to deflate and fall into equipment. Tethers prevent this from happening.

Add TL- to the beginning of the part number for a tether loop option. Qwik fit plugs come with a tether loop.

Qwik fit plugs are much like bag plugs except they will hold up to 10 lbs of pressure in the pipe.

Make sure you identify this internal plug with an appropriate flagging device found in the Barrier Identification section.

Many times the barriers used to prevent foreign material become foreign material themselves. Small plastic plugs, internally installed devices, and other barriers are left in place after work is done and can cause equipment damage. The devices in this section reduce human error by making small or ‘installed out of view’ plugs obvious. Take human error out of the equation with these barrier identification supplies. It is recommended that at a minimum any FME device that is installed inside a tube, pipe, or open component have extra identification. An even higher need for identification exists when a system can be reassembled without removing the FME device.
