This year has been full of excitement for the Gadomski family. Baby Johnny was born February 19th and a new Habitat home is on the ho- rizon. Jonathan and Patricia attend First Baptist Church in Port Charlotte and are teachers at Genesis Chris- tian School. "We are so thankful to God for this opportunity to become a Habitat partner family and to support the mission of Habitat." They are very excited to complete their sweat equity, construct their new home, build their family and serve God in the community. Since 1987, Charlotte County Habitat has served over 276 families through our homeownership program. With your help we will continue to help more families like the Gadomskis achieve the "American Dream" of homeownership. To learn how you can become involved in making dreams come true, contact Gabrielle Reineck, Senior Director of Outreach at (941) 639-3162 or [email protected]. CHARLOTTE COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

"HOOKED ON HABITAT" IS A REEL WINNER!By:EllenCardillo

On July 20th Ingman Marine presented Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity’s 5th Annual "Hooked on Habitat" Redfish tournament. The event was our most successful fishing tournament to date with 46 boats and over 120 anglers participating for the grand prize of $2,500! After an incredible Friday evening of seafood delights by Peace River Seafood and raffle prizes galore, the anglers took to the water Saturday at daybreak. The beautiful sunny day provided the anglers the opportunity to fish with friends and/or family and compete for over $6,000 in prize money. Event participants included local individuals, business co-workers, professional fishermen, father/son teams and even a Habitat partner family team. As anglers weighed in their catch and waited for the tournament results, they enjoyed an old fashion pig roast cooked by Colin Knox. A great time was had by all! We are very thankful for everyone’s support in making our 2013 "Hooked on Habitat" a success!

AUGUST 2013

CEO CORNERBy:MikeMansfield

As our economic outlook continues to improve, many families still struggle to acquire safe, decent affordable housing. At Charlotte County Habitat for Humanity we are committed to helping families secure adequate housing. Last year we helped 22 local families achieve the dream of homeownership and helped an additional 15 families with repairs to their existing homes through our "A Brush with Kindness" Program. During our current fiscal year our goal is to expand our reach and help 25 more families with homeownership, as well as begin our Veteran Home Repair Program. Ten Veterans have been approved for home repairs and work is scheduled to begin on August 1st.For those of you who have supported us in the past, we thank you! We need your continued support and the support of others so we can continue to offer families a "hand up" not a "hand out". Please help us build a better community.
