NOTE THAT THE AQG QUILT SHOW DATES WERE CHANGED FOR 2014 TO START ON MARCH 27th

Longarm Quilter Interview - Ginny Clausen

When did you join Havasu Stitchers? Actually I joined the Havasu Stitchers in 2003 and traveled here for meetings every month.

What is the name of your Longarm Quilting Business? Long Arm Quilting –Ginny Clausen Studio

How long have you been in business? I have been quilting for about 15 years; here in Havasu for 6 years; started longarming at the Gammill Dealership in Calif.

Tell me a little about your work, any particular style, do you do it all or just some things? Custom design, separate border treatments, block designs, echo quilting, template work, cross-hatching or stitch in the ditch - together we will pick the right design for your quilt. Quilting is a passion and enjoying the process is most important. There are no "Quilt Police" and every quilt is beautiful in my eyes. My job as a longarm quilter is to give each one individual attention to ensure customer satisfaction.

How should our members contact you to have their piecework quilted? Material Obsession, 34 Lake Havasu Ave N, Suite 11, or email [email protected] Phone 928-505-3612

Any deals going on now that the members should know about? Stop by the store anytime something new every week

Can they send you quilts all year or just part time? Full Time

When did you decide to have a home here in Havasu? We purchased our lot here in 1989, started building our home in 2005 and finally moved here in 2007.

Where do you come from, permanent residence, or are you here full time? This is our permanent resi-dence I am originally from Pennsylvania and came to Arizona by way of Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina and Southern California

    SPOTLIGHT ON OUR MEMBERS

Info from AQG on the Quindows Project. The quilts need to be a 40 x 60 size, no smaller or larger. We are designing a hang-ing system for these sizes and the merchants have already been told the size. The thread color used on the quilts should be neutral and recede. After that it's all yours..no re-strictions, be creative and have some fun with it. The deadline to return the quilts is March 1, 2014. We would like a picture of your group with each completed quilt for the website and chatter.

The Havasu Stitchers were assigned “Off the Grill” as the store for the quilt we are to make. So the block or pattern we choose should be related to food and this store’s theme. Sandy Williams has volunteered to be in charge. Sherri has volunteered to quilt it and provide batting and has some flame fabric that can be used in it.

    Book Reports

AQG Chatter—We need a volunteer to chair this position.

We’re looking for short write-ups about what the Havasu Stitchers have been doing or events coming up for us that we can share in AQG's Patchwork Chatter, once a month.

This can be a fun chair position, please think about helping.

Precut Patchwork Party Embellishments for Adventurous Sewing

Tip of the Month – To remove pencil marks, according to the August issue of Lady’s Circle “Patchwork Quilts, “Quilt Patch Queries” by Sue Nickels and Pat Holly, suggests the following: Make a solution that is one part water, three parts rubbing alcohol, and one or two drops of Palmolive or Joy dishwashing liquid (NOT DAWN, it may bleach your fabric). Use a cotton swab to apply and gently scrub with a soft toothbrush. Wipe dry with a cloth. Again, test this before applying to your whole quilt…We hope this helps and remember to TEST, TEST, TEST! We also want to let you know that many a priceless, beloved antique quilt still has pencil marks on it”.

Please remember if you want to send a "Quilting" related email to the entire membership, please send your request to this email address ([email protected] ).

The Havasu Stitchers email for outside contacts is [email protected] and it is also the email used by our Website. This email has not gone away.

PUPPY PILLOWS We will have a box at every meeting to collect the scraps for our FURRY FRIENDS in need. Keep clean fabric scraps NO batting in a clean large plastic zipper bag or clean container at their home. Just keep them handy so when we meet, you can just pull the bag out and drop it off at our pick up point. Sometimes it will be at our meeting or at Jon Ali. I do not have a storage spot at my home to collect them over time. We need people to cut up pieces and stuff. We need people to sew up the pillow coverings (outsides). We will provide the fabrics. Please bring your machine and be ready to have fun and make some dogs and cats very happy and comfy.

    Thanks Karm Webert

Come sew Sundays at Jon Ali 9:30am—3pm Octoberr 13, November 10th and December 15th

I was given this email address by the Bullhead City Quilt group----I have asked them this ques-tion but they are unable to assist at this time………..

I am hoping someone in your quilting group can be hired to make a quilt for me. I have all of my son’s old soccer, football and baseball shirts----that I would like to have turned into a quilt, along with some photos I would like to get put on material to put into the quilt as well. Is there anyone in the group who can do this? I do ex-pect to be charged for this! Please let me know thank you!
