Fabric paint in cheery citrus hues gives a basic tote a

refreshing twist.

Dip Delightful This dip-dye technique is all about time—the longer the dip, the deeper the color. Submerge ¾ of the bag in fabric dye for five minutes, then pull it about halfway out and let it sit for another ten. Finally, lift the bag so only ¼ is submerged and let it sit for another fifteen minutes.

Glitter Girl Iron-on lettering and transfer sheets let you express your sparkling personality on all your bags. We used a combination of metallic transfer sheets and gold glitter appliques for our tote. We customized the pouch using die-cut, iron-on letters and added a faux leather strap with tassel to complete this look.

Make It MonogramA colorful faux leather monogram makes a statement without saying a word. Use a die-cut machine or craft knife to cut out your letter and then secure it to your bag with fusible web. For extra flair, clip on a tassel—we made ours with thin strips of rose-gold faux leather ribbon and an antique gold tassel cap.

Citrus & Sunshine Lemon branch cutouts and tassel fringe give this striped bag a fresh, summer vibe. We cut shapes from a cotton calico pattern and secured them to the bag with fusible web. Then we completed the look by stitching tassel fringe around the rim of the bag.

Sincerely Yours Give an envelope-sized wristlet some whimsy and wow with strategic stitching and design. We created the stamp by hand stitching an Eiffel Tower on a small piece of white bandana backed with a piece of black bandana. Red rick rack trim and a sweet embroidered sentiment take this project to perfection.

Color Is ClutchBring charm to the common clutch with colorful embellishments. This project is deceptively simple—just use hot glue or thread to attach rick rack in cheerful summer shades along the contours of the bag and then complete the look with bright tassel trim.

Gold LeafWe elevated the look of this natural canvas bag by stamping it with metal leaf adhesive and then applying gold leaf. Matching fringe trim sewed to the bottom of the bag completes the look. Tip: Use gold leaf metal sheets for easier application and clean up.

Perfect PoutSequined appliques make this little canvas purse positively charismatic. For extra drama, we layered red mini pompom trim and natural fringe at the top of the bag and a red tinsel ribbon at the bottom.

Stencil It InAdd character to a basic pouch or cosmetic bag with fabric paint and a variety of stencils. For even more charm, clip on a tassel made from bandana strips.

Work of Art Think of your canvas tote as an artist’s canvas and create a masterpiece! Whether you want to focus on word design (as we did) or work with a freehand drawing, fabric markers make it possible. Tip: The darker the color of the tote, the more coats of color it will require.
