Tommy Prince

After WWII began Tommy volunteered to help his country in war although he met all standards he was turned down several times until he was finally accepted on June 3, 1940. Prince was an engineer for a year but he was promoted to Lance corporal in February 1941. He did that for a year then he went back to Canada because he got promoted to 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion (1CPB). Then once again he went back to Europe and was promoted to a sergeant . The French Commander recommended Prince for the Croix de Guerre ( Cross of War), but the courier was killed on route back to camp so the message never made it back to French Chief Charles De Gaulle. Tommy prince was decorated 9 times the most of any aboriginal soldier when the war was done Prince moved to Winnipeg and married Vern Sinclair with whom he had 5 kids. Now Tommy Prince has a school named after him and a statue commemorating his heroics.

Russ Bannock

Russ Bannock was born on Nov.1 1919. He grew up in Edmonton. He was a pilot. Wop May thought he was so good that he should be in the air force. In 1938 he took private pilot license. September 1939 WWII started, He got his own plane the mosquito. He destroyed 19 V1 and 11 German night fighters.

Lloyd Chadburn

Lloyd Chadburn was born in Montreal, Quebec on August 21/1919. he applied for CAF twice and SP-WF then RCN and RAF but turned down twice again. They accepted him at RCAF as a Air Gunner. He got a new plane called Hawker Hurricane Mk Is. Also he was the youngest Squadron Leader in the air force at the age 22. He died on June 13/1944 in a flying accident. He died at the age of 24.

George Burling

Born December 6 1921 Verdun Quebec. Died May 18 1948. His recorded he shot 27 enemy planes in 14

days. He served in the RAF and the RCAF. His nickname is the Falcon of Malta. He did his first at the age of 16. His first award is the Distinguished Flying Medal. He also one the Distinguished Flying Cross and

Distinguished Service Order. He died in a plane crash.

Billy Bishop

Born Feb 8 1884 in Ontario. He was the most famous pilot in Canada. He shot 72 planes in WW1 and WW2. He won the military cross in April, 1917. He also won the distinguish flying cross

and the Victoria cross. He helped the RCAF. He was the British empire in WW1. He died on September 11, 1958.
