It’s a busy time for the Wisconsin Section!
Several members exhibited their cars at Show & Glow August 5th. Oktoberfest was celebrated Sep-tember 9th, and I just returned from our Drive to Dine event at Road America’s Fall Vintage Festival. You can read more about these events elsewhere in this newsletter. Thank you to Frank Geracie, Ghassan Majdalani, Bend Kampe and John Ledbury for organizing and hosting these events.
We visit the Abbey Resort & Marina September 23rd for a Drive to Dine, and Thursday, October 12th Umansky Motor Cars is hosting a tech session. Make your reservations for both these events now. And although it’s too late to take advantage of the special hotel rates, you can still join us for the Door County Fall Color Tour scheduled for October 20 - 22. If you want to participate in the Fall Color Tour please contact me ASAP so I can make appropriate arrangements for our group meals!
November 4th is our Pabst Brewery Tour and December 9th our Christmas Party and Annual Meet-ing. And let’s not forget the February 2018 trip to the Chicago Auto Show.
More information on these events can be found elsewhere in this newsletter, and check the Upcom-ing Events Calendar for future events. I encourage you to put all these events on your calendar NOW and join us for as many upcoming functions as you can.
Newsletter Editor Needed!
Frank Geracie, our longtime newsletter editor, needs to step away from the position due to job de-mands.
Frank has graciously agreed to do the December/January newsletter, but for 2018 we need to find a new editor. If you or someone you know has an interest in filling this very important position please let me know. The newsletter editor does not have to be a board member, or even a club member.
Board Members Needed!
We have 3 board members whose terms expire at the end of 2017. Serving on the Board of Direc-tors is a great way to meet other members and get more involved in our Club activities. The time commitment is small, 2 hours a month for a board meeting. And with the acquisition of our Go-To-Meeting software, individuals can participate in a board meeting from the comfort of their home or office. Board membership is open to any member in good standing. If you are interested in serving as a board member please contact me.
MBCA Club Store Has Moved
Land’s End is now managing the MBCA Merchandise Store, at https://www.mbca.org/lands-end. MBCA polo shirts, jackets and more are available through the Merchandise Store. The MBCA Event Equipment Store at https://www.mbca.org/catalog?catalog=All is your source for name badg-es, note cards, anniversary pins, grille badges, back issues of the Star Magazine, and equipment for section events. Finally, please join me in welcoming our newest members as of September 17th:
James Holt, John Kapellusch, Chuck McCrimmon, Ron Rothman and Werner Scherr, and a belated welcome to Tim Benson, who joined our Section May 27 but was omitted from our membership list due to technical issues at the MBCA national office.

On Saturday, August 4, 2017 at the Show and Glow by the Lake event, approximately 400 cars were displayed on the grounds of Milwaukee’s Veterans Park by local car clubs. Our Wisconsin Section, along with a member from the Chicagoland Sec-tion (one Chicagoland member brought a C63 (2) door sedan) exhibited about 18 cars. The SL’s seemed to dominate, but, there were many differ-ent models represented. A few members came to the event without exhibiting cars. There was plenty of cars to see on the grounds. Black Forest LLC brought their Unimog plus sandwiches, snacks, and dessert for our mem-bers. Thank you, Michael McKinney. Awards were furnished by Show and Glow for each car club. Judges Ghassan Majdalani, Bernd Kampe, and Nancy Pearson selected the winning cars and the awards were presented as follows:
People’s Choice Award: Jim Rhora for his 1954 300b.
2nd
Place Award: Jeff Anderson for his 1971 280 SL.
3rd
Place Award: Francis and Cathy Lubinski for their 1989 300 SEL.
Many other car clubs were present at Show and Glow. We enjoyed answering questions about our cars and our Club. In fact, we hope to have several new members joining us because of the event. Jim Loseke was interviewed by the roving reporter over the public-address system and several members sought-out industry legend (and special event guest) Wayne Carini (Chasing Classic Cars) on the grounds. Others took time to wander around to see what the other local car clubs were showing.
Thanks to Frank Geracie for putting this event to-gether for the Club and to Ghassan Majdalani for being the point person for the Wisconsin Section at the event. Special thanks too to all the volunteers who helped make this event a success.

On Saturday, September 16th at Road America, we had our tent set up for both Wisconsin Session members and any Mercedes owner to stop and say hello. This was our second time this year with the tent at Road America and I'm glad to say the weather was perfect this time versus the rain, wind and 50 degree weather in May. Seven members of our club at-tended this event. This event featured over 250 vintage race cars during the three day event. A highlight of the event is seeing the many classic and and vintage cars in the track area where you can see them up close. There were vintage cars racing from the 1950's to modern day racing during the heats. Also, the event featured several open wheel classes. Not to mention the many classic, vintage, and modern cars in the parking are-as. We will be planning on hosting some events in 2018 at Road America which is one of the premier race tracks in the world. Thanks to all who at-tended and we hope we can continue to grow this outing next year. John Ledbury
