09 Greater Kashmir SRINAGAR | September 07, 2016, Wednesday In Mushtaq’s death, a Govt teacher lost his son and student SHOWKAT DAR Pulwama, Sep 6: The family members of 24 year old Mush- taq Ahmad Bhat who died in security forces’ firing exactly a month ago in Chersoo Pulwa- ma are still in a state of shock and mourning his death. Mushtaq, a B Tech, wanted to become a social worker and start an NGO to help the needy and downtrodden. The deceased had com- pleted his degree just two months ago. According to his family members Mushtaq returned with degree certificate on June 15 but was killed only after one month on July 22, Friday, by forces in Chersoo village. Mushtaq was the eldest son of his parents and is survived by two brothers, one sister and parents. His father is a govern- ment teacher. “His dream of becoming a social worker remained unful- filled as destiny had some- thing else in store for him. The security forces not only snatched him from us but also shattered his aspirations,” Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Mush- taq’s father said. “He was not only my son, but also my student. During floods he spent two months only to help the people and worked in an NGO,” he added. His mother Saleema is sit- ting outside the two-storey house, looking shattered. “The Indian forces merci- lessly shot him dead in cold blood even as he was not part of protests going on else- where in the area,” Bashir Ahmad said. “On July 22, he along his friends went towards the highway. Earlier that day there were clashes on the road. When he reached the highway, forces deployed there fired bullets on him. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed on way near Pampore,” he said. The family said that they did not approach any one or police to register any com- plaint as they have no hope from government. “We did not register any case, as we have no hope from any one. They all are killers,” Bashir Ahmad said. Information Dept shifts to online advertisement distribution Cabinet to meet tomorrow Srinagar, Sep 6: The State cabinet will meet here on Thursday to dis- cuss the ongoing unrest in Kashmir and several administrative issues. Sources told Greater Kashmir that Chief Min- ister Mehbooba Mufti would chair the meeting on Thursday at 2 PM to discuss the prevailing situation in Kashmir post July 8 killing of Burhan Wani by forces in south Kashmir’s Anantnag (Islamabad) district. “Several administrative issues requiring imme- diate decision are also expected to come up in the meeting,” they disclosed. Clerics meet Rajnath, to take out peace march in Kashmir New Delhi, Sep 6: A delegation of Muslim clerics of the Barelvi school met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday on the Kashmir issue and urged him to lead a delegation of Sufi scholars to the Valley while offering to take out a peace march there themselves. “We would try to instil some sense in the minds of stone pelting youths,” Maulana Ansar Raza of Garib Nawaz Foundation, who led the delegation, told IANS. Raza said the 60-odd Sufis from various khanqahs across India plan to take out a peace march in Kashmir with the Quran in one hand and the ‘Tiranga’ (national tricolour) in the other. He stressed that Sufism is the way for- ward in Kashmir. “Sufism is the path of love and forgive- ness. We would speak with the stone-pelting youth, and would try to convince them in the light of Quran, Hadith and traditions of great Sufi saints to abandon violence,” Raza said. He, however, dismissed the prospect of any talks with separatists. “How can we talk to people who are rais- ing ‘Pakistan zindabad’ slogans? We are very clear that we would not go at their doorstep only to be turned away by them, like they did to a handful of people recently,” he said. Calling the members of all-party delega- tion who went to meet Hurriyat leaders on Monday as “chai khor”, Raza said that they should not have broken away from the delegation and gone to meet the separatists. “The government of India’s policy and response towards the Kashmir situation is fine, and a solution would definitely come out. Kashmir hamara hai, hamara rahega (Kashmir is ours, and would remain ours),” he said. IANS Srinagar, Sep 6: In a major initiative aimed at maintaining transparency in distribution of advertisements, the Department of Information and Public Relations today finalized the arrange- ments for shifting to the online mode for distribution of advertisements to the newspapers and periodicals. The decision to shift to the online advertisement distribution system was announced by the Director Information and Public Relations, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choud- hary after going through the presentation made by the Software Development Com- pany, engaged by the Department for devel- oping a dedicated software for the purpose. Joint Director Information (Headquar- ters), Joint Director Information, Jammu, Joint Director Information, Kashmir and other officers and officials of the Depart- ment were also present on the occasion. Giving details of the new system, the Director Information said that all the empan- elled newspapers and the periodicals in the State would be given a dedicated password by the Department to log on to the online adver- tisement distribution portal and download the government advertisements allocated to the said newspaper/periodical for publica- tion on a given day. He said the newspaper/ periodical besides acknowledging the receipt of the advertisement online shall also have to upload the e-copy of the newspaper/peri- odical as and when the advertisement is pub- lished in it. “The online system will not only help the Department to ensure maximum transparency in the distribution of advertise- ments but it will also help create a database of the advertisements released for publication so that any information regarding govern- ment advertisements is readily available for reference,” he said and added that to help the Information Department officials and the newspaper owners to get acclimatised with the new system, both the online and the exist- ing system will go side by side for one month. The Department has created a dedicat- ed online domain for the advertisement distribution which can be logged on at www.jkinformationadvt.in. Pertinently, the process for devising a proper mechanism for online distribu- tion of advertisements was started by the Department of Information in June 2015 and a software consultancy was engaged to develop dedicated software for the purpose. Meanwhile, the Director Information also reviewed the overall functioning of the Department at a separate meet- ing with the officers of the Department. He called for making the Department a vibrant source of information for the media and the people.
