Your preseno not only underscored the EPA·a commitment to th So rsworth Landfill, but ignited new hope for the propo al th t have be n brousht forward by the Landfill Trust. The concerne vole d la t niaht re very real, they compel ue to find n ible solution to the landfill. I believ that we are now on th ro d to such solution.

Finally, we are aware of the pressure on your agency to move ten year sites like ours through the Superfund process, however, actual risk balanced with cost must be the final basis for action. Accordingly, we ask that when considerine the Feasibility Study and its alternative remedies, you rely upon the new Risk Assessmen t prepared by Cambridge Environmental. The original Riek Assessment prepared by Wehran was conducted under EPA guidance that le now obsolete. The Assessment prepared by Cambridge Environmental is in accordance with current EPA guidance which, as you know, provides significantly different methods for calculating risks. Risk est~~te01using current risk assessment methods and current data should be taken into account in the selection ot the ppropriate r medy for this site.
