Introduction:

The Free Trade Agreement between United States and Jordan was singe on 2000 as the

third free trade agreement of USA with world countries. The agreement give a chance for

Jordan exports to pass Stats marketsby eliminate duties and commercial barriers. The

FTA includes many items related to important issues such as:

Trade and environment (Article 5)

Trade and labor (Article 6).

Electronic commerce (Article 7).

Intellectual property rights protection (Article 4).

Balance of payments (Article 11).

Rules of origin (Article 14).

Safeguards (Article 10).

Procedural matters (Articles 16 and 17).

Jordanian Exports

Jordan’s total exports amounted to around JD5.558 billionduring 2015. The reports

Jordan Department of Statistics indicated that national exports were 7.1 per cent lower at

around JD4.795 billion in total in 2015 compared to 2014, whereas re-exports were worth

JD0.763 billion last year, recording a 3.4 per cent decline from the previous year.

Exports from Jordan to USA

The total export from Jordan to USA during 2015 has reached JD 1002.0 million. The

exports of Zarqa chamber of industry increased by (3%) in 2015 and reached a total value

of USD 909.6 million includes export to USA which reached USD484 million.

As the political conflicts in Middle East, negatively affect Jordan industrial exports to

Arab countries. Zarka Chamber of Industry aim to increasing factories awareness to

access FTA benefits, increase the volume of industrial exports to USA markets, and focus

on new markets in Africa and Europe as a solution for the decrease in the national

exports.
