OH YES, GENEVA IS VERY MUCH SWISS
> mouettesgenevoises.ch > ville-ge.ch/mah> geneve.com
It's not a mistake; although some would say differently, Geneva is well and truly Swiss. If you're still having doubts, take a short ride on a "Mouette" taxi-boat (A) and check out the stone pillar at Port-Noir 4 . It commemorates the integration of Geneva into the Swiss Confederation at the beginning of the 19th century. Still don't believe us? Pay a visit to the Musée d'Art et d'Histoire , which has the altarpiece from St. Peter's Cathedral on display. In Konrad Witz's masterpiece, you can clearly see Geneva surrounded by the lake and the Alps. It couldn't be any more Swiss! Feeling bad about questioning Geneva's national identity? How about a guided tour about Luther and Calvin (i) to ease your guilt? Leaving from the Reformation Wall in the Bastions Park, this guided tour takes you to several key locations of the Reformation here in Geneva.
/ WHERE SCIENCE MOVES FASTER
The Web was born there 30 years ago and some 10,000 physicists work here every day uncovering the secrets of the universe and the Big Bang. CERN 6* is the largest physics laboratory in the world and it's located right here in Geneva. Its particle accelerators are so large that they had to be built underground. The biggest is the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), which is 27 km long! Find out more about this global scientific research centre, which can be quickly and easily accessed on the public transport network. Check out the Globe of Science and Innovation while you're there, you literally can't miss it: it's 27 metres high and 40 metres wide! Head inside and into another world with the free "Universe of Particles" exhibition, and immerse yourself in the great mysteries of our universe.
