• Preliminary examination shows that the new source for AIRS data is giving us reasonable AIRS data.

HIRS spike in cost function

• METOP-IASI instrument is undergoing decontamination from 20100830 to 20100904. This loss of IASI data results in change of “sig O” for HIRS instruments with similar orbit swaths. Increase in cost function is a response to removal of IASI data. (paraphrasing Will McCarty)
