Here is an example of the rough poster that I came up with for this idea in approximately 10 mins. The poster has been made to go alongside the idea for a script I have previously written about a girl who escapes to the seashore to calm herself from stress, and problems from anxiety and depression. I have entitled this emotional story, Silence and Waves. I wanted my film poster, therefore, to embody these feelings of solemn loneliness but also calm and stillness.

I started with this beach background I found online. The same one I had originally used in my first draft. I felt that the colour scheme of the image gave off solemn, yet calm vibes, which reflects the plot line of the story I wish to tell. The layers to the image gave me a good base to insert my person into the frame, which I will show later. I then proceeded to format this to fill out my desired A4 size background, adjusting the image to fill the page and which side of the dip and bushes I would like show.

After introducing a new layer, I inserted my own photograph of Lucy onto the project. I alternated between the polygonal lasso tool and the eraser tool to remove the image’s background.

However, I wanted to make it look more natural, like this was an image of Lucy on this beach staring out at the waves when it was taken. In order to do this, I hide all of the layers, duplicate the layer of the background beach image, and made the duplicate layer visible.

Then, using the same tools as before, I removed the sea and sky from the image, made Lucy’s layer visible and softened the edges of the bushes to make it look as though she was sat among the grassy area.

Finally, I made all of the layers visible once more. Once adding the films certification, the institutional credits, the well-known actor’s names and the title of the movie. The poster for Silence and Waves was complete.
