Just Imagine…

The President of the United States wants to increase Americans’ understanding of countries around the world.

President Barack Obama wants you and your family to live in a foreign country. After one year, you will return home. Then you will educate others about that country.

You and three other students will work together to prepare you for your overseas adventure. Your group has four weeks to learn about your new “home.”

Here are some things you’ll want to find out:

Where is your country? What language(s) do the people speak? What is the weather like? Is it in a desert

or maybe a tropical region? What do children do for fun there?

Process Students will work in groups of four

Each team will draw the name of a country out of a hat

Using internet resources provided, each team will: o Assign one student to each fact sheet

(Note: students 1 & 3 and students 2 & 4 may work together on research)

oMeet for the last 10 minutes of each class to share information

o print five to seven photos of their assigned country

o write a two-page reporto create a poster-board display to go with

their report

Each team will give a five-minute presentation on their country -o in class, May 23rd o during Open House, May 25th

Make sure you write your report in your own words and do not copy information word-for-word from another source

Make sure to use pictures that give the viewer a better idea of what life is like in your new “home” country

If you don’t understand something, ask Mrs. Gunnison

Find out as much as you can and have fun!
