Groompa’s Kindergarten

Storyboard

Narrator: Once upon a time there was an elephant called Groompa.Groompa was a very big elephant and he lived alone for many years.So he’s awfully dirty and awfully smelly.

He often cries, “I’m lonely. I’m so lonely.” and rubs his ears against the grass.

One day, old elephant came up to Groompa and said:

Old Elephant (Seikichiro): Groompa, you’re a grown up now, it’s time for you to go to work. It’s time for you to find a job.

Narrator: So they took Groompa down to the river…

… and they scrubbed him clean and sprayed him with their elephant showers.

Everyone:

♬ This is the way we wash an elephant,Wash an elephant, wash an elephant,This is the way we wash an elephant,To get him ready for work. ♬

Narrator: Groompa was soon sparkling clean. He smiled happily and went on his way.

Everyone:

♬　 See you later! See you later!Take Care. Goodbye. ♬

Narrator: Right off, he found work at Mr. and Mrs. C’s Cookie Shop.

Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): Hello! Is anyone here?Mr ＆ Mrs C (Gen & Riyo): Hello. May I help you?Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): I’m looking for a job. Is there anything I can do here?Mr ＆ Mrs C (Gen & Riyo): You can make cookies with us.

Narrator: Groompa was very happy and he worked hard making cookies.

Everyone:♬ This is the way we make cookies,

make cookies, make cookies, This is the way we make cookies,In the cookie shop. ♬

Narrator: He worked so hard that before he knew it, he had made a giant-size cookie.

Mr. ＆ Mrs C. (Gen & Riyo): This cookie is tooooo big! We can’t sell this cookie! Take this giant cookie and be on your way! I’m sorry but we don’t need you anymore.

Narrator: Poor Groompa. He had to leave the cookie shop and find another job.

Everyone:

♬ Go, go, go away, go away my friend.You’ve worked hard but I’m afraid your time here has to end ♬

Narrator: Next, Groompa went to Mr. and Mrs. D’s Dish Shop.

Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): Hello! Is anyone here?Mr & Mrs D (Yuta & Ena): Hello. May I help you?Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): I’m looking for a job. Is there anything I can do here?

Mr & Mrs D (Yuta & Ena): You can make plates with us.

Groompa was very happy and he worked hard making plates.

Everyone:

♬　 This is the way we make plates, Make plates, make plates.This is the way we make plates, In the dish shop ♬

Narrator: He worked so hard that before he knew it, he had made a giant size plate.

Mr & Mrs D (Yuta & Ena): This plate is tooooo big! I can’t sell this plate! Take this giant plate and be on your way. I’m sorry but we don’t need you anymore.

Narrator: Poor Groompa. He had to leave the dish shop and find another job.

Everyone:♬ Go go go away, go away my friend.

You’ve worked hard but I’m afraid your time here has to end ♬

Narrator: Next, Groompa went to Mr. and Mrs. S’s Shoe Shop.

Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): Hello! Is anyone here?Mr & Mrs S (Asahi S. & Kokone): Hello. May I help you?Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): I’m looking for a job. Is there anything I can do here?Mr & Mrs S (Asahi S. & Kokone): You can make shoes with us.

Narrator: Groompa was very happy and he worked hard making shoes.

Everyone:

♬　 This is the way we make shoes, Make shoes, make shoes.This is the way we make shoes, In the shoe shop ♬

Narrator: He worked so hard that before he knew it, he had made a giant size shoe.

Mr & Mrs S (Asahi S. & Kokone): This shoe is tooooo big! I can’t wear this shoe! Take this giant shoe and be on your way! I’m sorry but we don’t need you anymore.

Poor Groompa. He had to leave the shoe shop and find another job.

Everyone:

Narrator: Next, Groompa went to Mr and Mrs P’s Piano shop.

Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): Hello! Is anyone here?Mr & Mrs P (Takako & Ayaka): Hello. May I help you?Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): I’m looking for a job. Is there anything I can do here?Mr & Mrs P (Takako & Ayaka): You can build pianos with us.

Everyone:

♬ This is the way we build a piano,Build a piano, build a piano. This is the way we build a piano,In the piano shop. ♬

Narrator: He worked so hard that before he knew it, he had made a giant-size piano.

Mr & Mrs P (Takako & Ayaka): This piano is tooooo big! I can’t sell this piano! Take this giant piano and be on your way. I’m sorry but we don’t need you anymore.

Narrator: Poor Groompa. He had to leave the piano shop and find another job.

Everyone:

Narrator: Next, Groompa went to Mr. and Mrs. A’s car shop.

Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): Hello! Is anyone here?Mr & Mrs A (Shuta & Asahi O): Hello. May I help you?Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): I’m looking for a job. Is there anything I can do here?Mr & Mrs A (Shuta & Asahi O): You can build cars with us.

Narrator: Groompa was very happy and he worked hard building a car.

Everyone:

♬　 This is the way we build a car,Build a car, build a car.This is the way we build a car,In the car shop ♬

Narrator: He worked so hard that before he knew it, he had made a giant-size car.

Mr & Mrs A (Shuta & Asahi O): This car is tooooo big! I can’t sell this car. Take this giant car and be on your way! I’m sorry but we don’t need you anymore.

Narrator: Poor Groompa. He had to leave the car shop and find another job.

Everyone:

♬ Go go go away, go away my friend.You’ve worked hard but I’m afraid your time here has to end ♬

Narrator: Groompa felt very sad and carrying his giant cookie, on his giant plate, on his giant shoe, on his giant piano, on his giant car. He left.

When he was about to cry, he came upon a mother and a father who looked very busy.

Mother & Father (Rihito & Yuika): We’re so busy. We’re so busy. We have 16 children, and we have to wash 16 shirts, 16 pairs of pants and 16 pairs of socks!

Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): Excuse me. Is there anything I can help you with?M & F (Rihito & Yuika): Yes! Could you please play with our 16 children?Groompa (Ua & Hiroto): Sure! I can do that.M & F (Rihito & Yuika): Oh, thank you. Children! Come out!

Narrator: Groompa shared his giant cookie with all the children. They loved it. Groompa also shared all the items he made with the children. They all liked to play with his giant things!

Everyone:
