Purpose of the role

Age UK Gloucestershire has an ambitious vision to make Gloucestershire the best county in which to grow older. Our view is that achieving this will not be ‘services for older people’ but creating an engaged, responsive community for older people to live in and contribute to. Delivering on this requires mobilising our local community to understand and support our aspirations.

This new post is pivotal as we seek to raise our profile significantly and to generate essential income from community fundraising to support our vision.

The Head of Fundraising and Marketing will lead our activity in communicating with the public and local businesses about our message and aspirations, and leveraging income from a range of sources to fund our charitable activities.

The postholder will be a senior member of the team, responsible for developing

our fundraising and marketing strategy and then coordinating the delivery of the plans to achieve agreed targets.

Main Duties Devise a fundraising and marketing strategy and delivery plan (building on existing work that has been done already)

Implement a range of activity to raise our profile and generate income. Recruit, induct and develop a pool of volunteers and ambassadors able

to promote AUKG effectively across the county. Recruit, cultivate and steward a high level advocacy group to support key

fundraising activities. Develop fundraising tools that make it easy for local people to generate

funds for the charity Lead in ensuring that AUKG has a strong, positive and professional

presence on-line and on social media. Devise and maintain accurate systems, including developing a supporter

database to ensure efficient donor management, and for recording applications and funds raised across the different income streams.

Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of different activities and use this to inform future plans.

Be a full and active member of the management team, identifying and advising on fundraising and marketing opportunities but also contributing to the wider work of the charity.

Ensure our fundraising and communications activity is compliant with GDPR and all other relevant regulations.

Prepare and present reports for the Board of Trustees on fundraising and marketing activity.

our vision and our work. Increasing the number of individuals and businesses who are aware of,

understand and support our work. Support to colleagues so all staff can contribute to fundraising activity

and income generation.

On our financial sustainability, which will include: Generating unrestricted income to agreed targets Developing relationships with individuals and businesses that lead to

repeat donations to aid in our forecasting of future income

Relevant experience / work-based knowledge and qualifications:

Demonstrable experience in fundraising / marketing with a proven track record of successDealing with senior-level contacts both internally and externallyConsiderable experience and understanding of key ingredients of success for Community Fundraising and at least two of the following aspects of the fundraising mix: Corporate; Events; Major Gifts; Regular Giving; Legacies; In Aid Of fundraising

Educated to degree level or equivalentRelevant professional qualification accredited by the Institute of Fundraising

Experience of working in the Charity sector
