Migrants Resource Centre is seeking an ambitious and experienced fundraiser to lead on the development and implementation of a new individual, major donor, and corporate fundraising strategy.

Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships£32,320

This is an exciting time to join the MRC fundraising team. The migrant and refugee crisis in Europe had created an unprecedented level of need among migrants, focussing public attention on the issue and encouraging generosity and support. In order to meet this growing need, MRC has just completed a merger with Asylum Aid that significantly expands the scope of our work and capacity to deliver.

Over the past several years, our growth has been driven through great success in trust & foundation fundraising and local authority contracting. Looking forward, our task now is to diversify the portfolio to reduce dependence on these income streams, ensuring stability and security for the future.

To help achieve this we have created this new position, Head of Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships, to establish and lead growth from this as yet untapped income stream. We already receive around £75k per year from individual donors and are confident that with dedicated and skilled resource, we have the potential to significantly increase this. Major donor fundraising and corporate partnerships are new areas for us, but we have begun the development of these areas with the assistance of external consultants. The goal of the Head of Philanthropy & Corporate Partnerships is therefore to develop and implement a strategy which delivers restricted and unrestricted income.

This role will suit a highly motivated and ambitious fundraiser with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets. You’ll be a strategic thinker, able to develop a creative long-term fundraising strategy. You’ll be a great communicator and will develop and initiate new relationships to motivate and influence people at all levels to support the work of Migrants Resource Centre. You’ll be a dynamic team player, self-motivated and with excellent organisational skills, capable of multi-tasking and meeting deadlines.

Applications should be sent to [email protected]

Closing date: Friday 26 August 2016 (10.00 am)

We do not accept application by CV, or approaches from agencies.

Recruitment Briefing NoteJuly 2016

Migrants Resource Centre has a vision of a society where migrants are valued and able to contribute. In partnership with other agencies, we work to remove the barriers that prevent migrants, refugees and asylum seekers contributing fully to society. We have just completed a merger with Asylum Aid, a leading asylum rights advocate in the UK and Europe, with a demonstrable track record of securing protection from persecution for individual refugees, and of achieving significant structural improvements to the UK asylum process. This merger has significantly expanded the scope of our work and capacity to deliver.

We are presently recruiting to the post of Head of Philanthropy and Corporate Partnerships. These notes are intended to give an overview of what makes Migrants Resource Centre stand out, together with an outline of the post, a guide to the skills and experience we are seeking from applicants, and a summary of our terms and conditions of employment.

Please read these notes and all the other written material relating to this post before completing your application form. We also advise that you visit our website (www.migrantsresourcecentre.org.uk) and read our most recent annual report to get a sense of the scope of the work and structure of the charity.

Our service users are migrants, refugees and asylum seekers from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures in London and across the UK. We offer a range of free services to support migrants, refugees and asylum seekers on their journey towards integration into their host society. By supporting them to develop their skills and understand their rights and responsibilities, we enable them to fully participate in and contribute to that society.

We provide a safe place in which users are able to learn, to meet with others, to speak out for a better world and to move on feeling stronger. We also play a strong part in initiating and participating in campaigns, networks and partnerships to improve the lives of migrants, asylum seekers and refugees. Specifically, we aim to:

Improve the image and perception of migrants and refugees in the UK Promote social justice Enable and encourage two-way integration through dialogue, mutual acceptance and

respect

Migrants Resource Centre exerts a significant influence on a broad range of immigration & asylum law, policy and practice issues. This is, in large part, because everything we say in our policy and campaign work is grounded in our experience of delivering high quality legal and support services and in the findings generated by our original research. We are committed to working co-operatively with our peer NGOs in the UK and Europe, and to engaging constructively, though not uncritically, with Government.

Migrants Resource Centre is a values-driven organisation that provides a positive, friendly, flexible and mutually supportive working environment. We are keen that our staff derive personal satisfaction from their work and, in return for carrying significant responsibilities, enjoy the opportunity to develop their particular interests and skills.
