ACTIVITIES

1. In her webinar, Susan discusses the importance of mindset and the way successful Entrepreneurs think about themselves and the world. Think about a highly successful business woman that you admire and answer the following questions:

a. Who are they?b. What are they successful at doing?c. What is it about them that you admire?d. Do some research….look at YouTube, their LinkedIn profiles, articles or their social

media accounts etc. and try and find a quote that they’ve made about themselves or their business that shows they’ve developed the right mindset.

2. Masculine and Feminine qualities are very different and the way in which they do business is different.

a. Have a look at the business traits listed below and state whether you believe they are Masculine focussed or Feminine focussed:

LOGIC AND RATIONAL

CONTROL

DRIVE FOR PURPOSE

RESULTS FOCUSSED

COLLABORATION

SHORT TERM FOCUS

PERSERVERANCE

ADAPABILITY

RELATIONSHIP FOCUSSED

b. Which of the above traits do you believe you portray in business?

c. Are your traits more masculine focussed or feminine focussed?

3. Susan talks about the 5 feminine traits that are important to have to be successful in business. List these 5 traits below:

1.2. 3. 4. 5.

4. Our intuition is extremely important when it comes to business. Let’s start activating our internal guide and quieten down our busy minds. Susan spoke about ways in which we can start this. For some, it may work immediately and for others it will take time. In her webinar, Susan took you through an activity where she asked you tune into your inner wisdom, and ask some questions, making notes of the responses. List your answers below (if you need to refer back to her webinar it’s at point 23.30):

- How am I feeling about my business (or starting my business)?- Think about something you’re deliberating on at the moment and ask your

inner guide for advice. What’s the question?- What are the key things I need to focus on in my business?- What would you have me do today?- Does your inner guide have a name?

5. Let’s practise dreaming without constraint. Time to visualise some more!

It’s 2027 and you pick up your copy of Time Magazine from the news stand and the guy behind the counter does a double take. You are on the front cover having just received the prestigious accolade of Global Entrepreneur of the Year. Write a 400-600 word article (from a third person perspective) that details your achievements, how you made a difference in your business over the last 10 years, what you did that has blown everyone’s minds. This is a time to ask your inner critic to leave the visioning circle and dream big!!

ASSESSMENT

PART A: For Assessment Part A you will be taking yourself on a personal retreat. In her webinar, Susan discusses that in order to develop a business that is truly authentic to you, that personifies every value and approach that you have, it’s important that you truly know yourself. Assessment A will look at exploring this in more detail.

Be as detailed as you can in answering the following questions:

a. Who am I as a person?

What am I passionate about?

What motivates me?

What do I value in my life?

What is my business (or business idea)?

What is it about my business (or business idea) that I believe will truly be of benefit to my target market?

What are some of those areas that I think I need to work on (what’s your kryptonite)?

b. Looking at your strengths is also a very important part of discovering more about you. Susan outlined that often, it’s quite difficult to talk about our strengths and the things we might be good at. In this activity, we want you to approach 4 people that you know quite well (either in business or personally) and ask them “What do you believe are my strengths?” Note the responses below:

Person 1:

Person 2:

Person 3:

Person 4:

Write a brief summary (100-200 words) about your thoughts of what others highlighted as your strengths.

c. Take the free character strengths survey at http://www.viacharacter.org (you’ll need to subscribe in order to take the survey but you can then unsubscribe at any time after you’ve received your report)

- What are your top 3 strengths as outlined in this report?

1.

2.

3.

- Do you agree with the results? Provide a brief explanation (150-250 words) of your answer.

PART B: Giving our target market a clear insight into us as well as our business, is very important. Consumers will buy a product or service they like but they’ll also buy ‘WHY YOU DO IT’ so it’s important to incorporate this into everything you do as a business woman. We’ll explore the notion of ‘why’ a little deeper in the Marketing topic but for the purposes of Assessment B, we’re going to look at writing (or rewriting) the ‘About Us’ section of your website or social media page and incorporate some of the things we’ve found out about ourselves. Remember this is an opportunity to tell your story. Talk about your strengths, your values, what motivates you in conjunction with your business.

Here’s some little tips to help you in writing your ‘About Us’ Page:

- Length: 200-400 words- Establish a conversational tone: don’t make it sound boring and dry. Imagine

you’re talking to someone about what you do and why you do it.- Show some personality: Give us an insight into your personality. Be funny or

witty or passionate if need be. - Read over and over again: Once you’ve written your ‘About Us’ page, ensure

you read and re-read from beginning to end out loud to ensure it flows properly.

PART C: Overall Reflection: Write a short summary (of about 100-200 words) that details something new you found out about yourself after having completed Susan’s topic on ‘Dreaming Big’. Think back on the webinar itself or any of the activities you completed as part of this journey. What was it you learnt and how did it make you feel?
