For some years Sarah Kenderdine and Jeffrey Shaw have been working together with Mr. Hing Chao, the Interna-tional Guoshu Association (IGA) and City Universy of Hong Kong to create art installations based on the motion capture (MOCAP) of kung fu performances by renowned HongKong martial arts masters. Kenderdine and Shaw's interactive work Kung Fu Visualization creates a panoptic virtual reality within which these kung fu masters' per-formances are reenacted and re-envisioned. Presented from six different points of view the visitor can select six different visualization styles that elucidate the underlying dynamics and aesthetics of the masters' movements.

Jeffrey Shaw has been a leading fig-ure in new media art since the 1960's.

In a prolific oeuvre of widely exhibit-ed and critically acclaimed works he has pioneered and set benchmarks for the creative use of digital media technologies in the fields of virtual and augmented reality, immersive visualization environments, naviga-ble cinematic systems and interac-tive narrative. Shaw was founding director of the ZKM Institute for Visual Media Karlsruhe (1991–2002), and of the UNSW iCinema Centre for Inter-active Cinema Research (2003–Now). Since 2009 Shaw has been Chair Professor of Media Art at City Univer-sity in Hong Kong where he is also Director of the Centre for Applied Computing and Interactive Media. In 2015 he received the Prix Ars Elec-tronica Golden Nica for Visionary Pioneer of Media Art.

Sarah Kenderdine is a widely pub-lished researcher at the forefront of interactive and immersive experienc-es for galleries, libraries, archives and museums. In her practice she has amalgamated cultural heritage with new media art practice, especially in the realms of interactive cinema, augmented reality and embodied narrative. In 2017, Kenderdine was appointed Professor of Digital Mu-seology at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzer-land where she has founded a new laboratory for experimental museolo-gy that explores the convergence of a esthetic practice, visual analytics and cultural data (eM+). She is also director and lead curator of EPFL's new art/science museum, Art Lab.
