Dear readers,

While it seems that 2018 has only just begun, the year is in fact almost halfway through. This is why I am very happy to present to you this year’s fi rst issue of our cus-tomer magazine »MAG1705«, in time for the Intermat in Paris (where Goldhofer will be present at booth 5B Ext 028).

In March, we had our fi rst two successful trade fair ex-hibitions of the year at the MAWEV Show in St. Pölten, Austria, and at bauma CONEXPO AFRICA in Johannes-burg, where we presented our innovative and robust vehicle technology for the construction industry.

As you may perhaps have noticed, we have recently been exhibiting our products at larger booths and we have also shown at least one or, where possible, several vehicles at international trade fairs. The reason for this is quite simply that, as a globally operating company, it is our goal to present our new developments in print, in conversation and online. We also want to give you the opportunity of experiencing our products personally. We want to convince you that we’re not just showing nice pictures or exciting videos, but that we are, fi rst and foremost, developing and manufacturing durable, well-thought-out and intelligent transport solutions that help you deal with your daily tasks as well as with extra-ordinary challenges.

GOLDHOFER – THE ORIGINALTRENDSETTING SOLUTIONS

Especially in the energy sector, developments are rapidlygaining momentum. As announced in the previous issue of »MAG1705«, rotor blades are continuously becoming heavier and longer. In addition to the FTV 500, which has already accomplished its fi rst missions with great success, we have now developed a lowloader like you have never seen before. In this issue, you can read all about our new »BLADEX« blade tip lifting device and our fi ve-times-extendable »VENTUM«.

I am looking forward to welcoming you personally to one of our booths at trade fairs around the world.

Best regards,

Rainer Auerbacher

Meanwhile, larger and larger onshore and offshore wind farms and photovoltaic power stations are being built, which are virtually infi nite as an energy source. Our engineers are therefore highly involved in developing transport solutions for the energy sector as well as alternative drive systems, which, at the end of the day, perform even better than conventional drive systems. Modern battery systems offer a signifi cantly higher storage capacity and energy effi ciency than previous models and, considering its breathtaking pace over the last years, it can be assumed that the culmination of this development has not yet been reached.

Because we at Goldhofer are always thinking holisticly, our manufacturing sites and processes are also modern and eco-friendly – to an extent that they even have been certifi ed.

From the very beginning, the name Goldhofer has always stood for innovative, customized and trend-setting solutions. Nowadays, electromobility – and the harvesting and storage of renewable energy associated with it – is among the most talked-about topics world-wide. Right now, automotive companies are setting new benchmarks and showing us what can be done – with energy-effi cient, durable, high-performance vehicles that not only present a green image, but are actually fun to drive. The commercial vehicle industry has also acknowledged that it is time for a change and that we shouldn’t wait too long to make ourselves independent of fossil fuels.

The addition of two ISO certifi cates to its corporate governance profi le is part of a clear strategy pursued by Goldhofer to improve the sustainability of all pro-cesses within the Goldhofer Group on a cost-effective basis.

Goldhofer’s certifi ed environmental and energy management systems (UMS and EnMS) refl ect the company’s strong commitment to the sparing and sustainable use of the planet’s fi nite resources and guarantee compliance with current and future en-vironmental regulations. The new UMS will enable Goldhofer to achieve its own ambitious policy goal of offering customers added value through conti-nuous proactive optimization of its performance in terms of energy consumption and the environment during the complete life cycle of its products.

This provides a better overview of all the environmental impacts – both positive and negative – of activities, products and services in a holistic life cycle perspec-tive and allows constant improvements. The Goldhofer service team offers customers close cooperation long after they have taken delivery of their vehicles, providing preparatory support for upcoming operations and handling maintenance requirements in the long term.

The new UMS also has advantages for customers, drawing their attention to ways of combining a re-duced environmental footprint with improved effi -ciency for their projects.

At this year’s Intermat in Paris, which is being held from 23 to 28 April, Goldhofer will again offer a con-vincing demonstration of proven and innovative auto-motive engineering. “A major trade show like this is a fi ne opportunity for us to present our dynamic sys-tems and convince the industry of their advantages”, says Rainer Auerbacher with regard to the company’s goals for the Paris event. “As one of the global market leaders in the fi eld of heavy-duty road haulage and oversized cargo transportation, we will be presenting our visitors with two vehicle concepts which have one thing in common: the versatility needed for full and effective support in the face of today’s demanding requirements in the construction and engineering industries.”

At the Goldhofer stand 5B Ext 028, visitors can look forward to an »ADDRIVE» in a six-axle version. It offers the best of two road transport worlds in a combination of trailered and self-propelled modules in one single vehicle. Depending on road gradients and surfaces, the additional drive provides maximum speed or concentrated pulling force in a wide range of possible combinations.

The second Goldhofer exhibit, the STZ-L4 with wheelrecesses, has been developed specially to handle largeself-propelled construction equipment. The wheel re-cesses have the advantage of greatly reducing overall height of the combination. In addition, the STZ-L4 canbe quickly converted into a trailer with level deck sothat tracked vehicles or heavy construction materials can also be transported with ease. That is possible with a payload of up to 43 tons or even 50 tons in the version with Goldhofer’s successful »MPA« tech-nology (depending on the regulations in place in the location concerned).

The Goldhofer Group succeeded in defending its position as the number one in its fi eld and was again awarded the title of “World Market Leader Champion” in the category Heavy-Duty and Special Transport Vehicles. The World Market Leader Index (http://www.weltmarktfuehrerindex.de/corp_profi le/?pid=286), which is drawn up by experts of the University of St. Gallen and the Academy of German Global Market Leaders, is particularly prestigious because of the stringent standards applied to the awards.

The selection process is performed with the help of a dedicated database created using objective para-meters. Project manager Professor Christoph Müller of the HBM School of Entrepreneurs at the University of St. Gallen explains the details: “The formal require-ments to be met by ‘World Market Leader Cham-pions’ are demanding and completely transparent. Companies must have a presence on at least three out of six continents and must be the global num-ber one or two in terms of annual sales, which must amount to a minimum of 50 million euros per year,

with foreign markets accounting for at least half.” Rainer Auerbacher was delighted with the repeat of the award: “With the creation of Airport Techno-logy as a new business unit and the foundation of Goldhofer Inc. in the USA, we set the stage last year for continued growth throughout the organization. On behalf of all the members of senior management,I would like to express my thanks to our employees, whose above-average commitment is decisive for the excellent quality of our transport systems.”

HEAVIEST TRANSFORMER TRANSPORT OF ALL TIME!KAHL AND GOLDHOFER ACHIEVE WORLD RECORD

Just before 10 p.m. on January 24, 2018, André Krause,Project Manager at the Kahl Group, and his team gavethe “go-ahead”, and a superlative heavy-haulage operation began under the eyes of the fascinated onlookers. Slowly a colossus of the road rolled off into the night with its very special cargo: the world’s most powerful transformer, a Siemens 1100 KV UHVDC with a deadweight of 535 tons. “For such an operation, we obviously use the most innovative equipment in our fl eet, in this case two Goldhofer modules: up front a THP/ST 10 P (1+1) and at the back a PST/SL-E 10 P (1+1) coupled in parallel with,

of course, our G2 I K 600 high girder bridge from Goldhofer and Greiner. That ensures we can satisfy both the load-bearing requirements and the height restrictions along the route”, explains André Krause.

In May 2015, the world’s fi rst G2 I K 600 high girder bridge was formally handed over to the Kahl Group and has since been used to fulfi ll several contracts. The outstanding deadweight-to-payload ratio is the key to reduce axle loads when transporting extreme-ly heavy cargos and constitutes a vital USP for the heavy haulage industry worldwide. The high girder bridge has been designed for a maximum confi gura-tion of 2 x 24 axle lines and a maximum payload of no less than 600 tons. Depending on the cargo, the G2 I K 600 offers the fl exibility for use not only as a high girder bridge but also as a side girder deck, ves-sel bridge or self-supporting schnabel transporter. In the early planning stages of the project, the special-ists at Kahl realized that the operation was going to involve a new record in terms of weight. With a length of 63 m, a width of 7.45 m and a height of 6.10 m, the laden rig looked set to become a record-breaker with an overall weight of 875 tons. “This transport solution is a fi rst in terms of the combination employed. With Goldhofer’s heavy-duty and self-propelled modulescoupled in parallel, we were able to minimize the overall length of the combination so as to guarantee the maneuverability needed for the critical passages, like the underpass under the Minerva Bridge”, says Krause.

For optimum preparation of the journey, André Krause relied on Goldhofer’s dedicated easyTRACK and easyLOAD software. The specialists at Kahl made regular use of the software in order to simulate the itinerary as realistically as possible on the one hand and to ensure optimum positioning of the cargo with regard to weight distribution and center of gravity on the other hand. The fact that computer simulation can only reproduce reality to a limited extent is something that André Krause and his team discovered right at the beginning of the journey. When the cargo had been secured in the high girder bridge with more than

30 chains and the rig had just started to move, an unforeseeable obstacle was discovered just outside the exit from the Siemens plant in Nuremberg: An in-correctly parked truck left so little space to pass that the journey seemed over before it had begun. But a tow truck quickly arrived and lifted a vehicle parked on the other side of the road out of the way so that, although narrower than originally calculated, there was enough space for the rig to pass. With that slight delay but no other incidents or obstacles, the record-breaking rig rolled through the night and reached the port of Nuremberg the following morning.

“Once again, the months of preparation paid off,” says André Krause in praise of his team. “Of course, the occasional adjustment had to be made on a couple of bends, but without the illegally parked truck, we would have arrived right on schedule.” After an ope-ration lasting just under 20 hours, the record-breaking rig fi nally reached the port of Nuremberg. There, the transformer was quickly loaded onto a barge to take it to Antwerp, where the 3,300 km long journey to China continued by sea. André Krause concludes: “This mega transport operation was a successful premiere for us; we have another three of these giant cargos coming up for the power generation industry. I was particularly impressed once again by the G2 I K 600 high girder bridge, which we have already used for a lot of challenging operations on national and international routes. I am proud of the fact that, with our big and innovative fl eet and our fantastic team, we are able to handle such demand-ing jobs.”

Although it is late at night, the whole route is lined by curious onlookers attracted by the record-breaking transport operation.

GOLDHOFER SETS NEW BENCHMARKS FOR ROTOR BLADE TRANSPORT OPERATIONS

2017 was a good year for the international transport industry, especially in the fi eld of wind power. According to the annual statistics published by Wind Europe and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) in February 2018, over 50 gigawatts of wind energy capacity were added worldwide. Record growth rates were reported for Europe, India and the offshore industry. On the Euro-pean market alone, new wind farm installations were 20 percent higher than in 2016, with onshore capacity up by 12.5 GW and offshore capacity by 3.2 GW. With new installations generating a total of 6 GW added in Ger-many, the country came in at the top of the wind power growth league in 2017.

In order to offer a reliable response to the increasing logistics requirements of the wind power industry, Goldhofer began several years ago to place a strong focus on specialized equipment. Following the suc-cessful market entry of the FTV 300 and FTV 500 blade transport devices, the world market leader for heavy and specialized transport solutions from Memmingen, Germany, has now designed an additional blade transport system ready to market, one that sets new benchmarks for the competition. While the FTV series is designed primarily for extremely winding routes with signifi cant gradients, the new Goldhofer »BLADEX« blade tip lifting device offers a highly dyna-mic response to operational requirements combining such factors as fl exibility, good economics and time-saving workfl ows in a single transport solution.

The »BLADEX« is a rail-mounted solution designed for installation on any Goldhofer fl atbed semitrailer with pendular axles. The device is designed as an autono-mous system; its own power unit makes it independent of the vehicle’s hydraulic and electrical systems. Thanks to a built-in push beam, the system can be moved freely along the cargo deck when the length of the semitrailer is adjusted under load. The device can handle rotor blades with a length of up to 80 m and, thanks to the integrated scissor lift, can raise them by up to 7 m (so that the deck of the »BLADEX« is about 10 m above the ground). In this position, the blade tip can swivel over obstacles and even narrower passages can be negotiat-ed. This is where Goldhofer has set the fi rst signifi cant benchmark. In addition, the semitrailer deck can be re-tracted under load. The combination of reduced vehicle length and fl exible lift height is the key to rapid progress on sections with critical bends.

On the road with the »BLADEX« blade tip lifting device

In the interest of maximum safety, the operator can use the remote control to check on wind speed and tilt. In terms of payload capacity, the 10 t that can be carried by the »BLADEX« are again setting new stan-dards. Goldhofer’s Director of Sales International Rainer Auerbacher concludes: “With the »BLADEX«, we have responded to the industry’s demand for an economical rotor blade transport system for fast and cost-effective working. And Goldhofer is also setting new benchmarks with the impressive scissor lift stroke!”

A HEAD START FOR ROTOR BLADE TRANSPORTS ADAMS ORDERS THREE »BLADEX« AND ONE FTV 500

For many years now, Goldhofer and the Adams Group of St. Vith have been writing a joint success story. Currently, the fl eet operated by the Belgian transport and civil engineering experts includes more than a hundred axle lines plus an extensive range of accesso-ries from the world market leader for heavy and special transport solutions. Since 1997, the Adams Group has handled a number of spectacular transport operations in close collaboration with Goldhofer, many of them involving exceptional transport requirements that have triggered further developments to a variety of Goldhofer transport systems.

To that extent, it is not surprising that Adams should have decided to order no fewer than three brand-new »BLADEX« blade tip lifting devices that Goldhofer has just launched on the market. Peter Adams, founder and now General Manager of the company, explains: “For us, rotor blades for the wind power industry are an everyday cargo. The» BLADEX« gives us a transport solution that puts us one step ahead of the compe-tition – and enables us to offer rotor blade transport services with much shorter transport times on a highly cost-effective basis. Thanks to the three »BLADEX« devices and the FTV 500, we were able to raise our transport capacities for the wind power industry to a completely new level – with decisive transport advan-tages for our customers.“

With the FTV 500, which was delivered together with the fi rst »BLADEX«, the Adams Group has added a particularly powerful blade transport device to its fl eet. As the rotor blade mounted on the device can be raised hydraulically to an angle of up to 60 degrees, the FTV 500 can take on even the most challenging routes. It can pass underneath power lines and bridges and it can negotiate extremely winding roads through forested areas. Peter Adams concludes: “The ratio of three »BLADEX« devices to one FTV 500 is ideal for our order books today. We are now in a position to quickly transport a large number of rotor blades and also offer reliable delivery to sites with poor access.”

RECORD CONTRACT FOR GOLDHOFERSILAMAS PLACES THE BIGGEST ORDER EVER

As Goldhofer’s biggest customer in Asia, the Silamas Group of Samuthprakan, Thailand, has long been a symbol of successful transportation business with the help of Goldhofer modules. And now, as of January 2018, spectacular additions are again being made to Silamas’ existing vehicle fl eet. Jean-Philippe Martin, Sales Manager Asia at Goldhofer, is delighted with the record order from the Far East: “Silamas has orderedover 150 THP/SL-L axle lines, which we are now working fl at out to produce so that delivery can begin punctually. history of Goldhofer and a huge compliment for our products! Silamas will then have a total of over 500 Goldhofer axle lines in its fl eet.”

According to Silamas’ CEO Chompoo Glinpu, the main reasons for the addition to the fl eet are to be found in the good market situation and the recent changes made to Thailand’s road traffi c regulations in the form of a reduction in the maximum permissible number of axle lines per vehicle confi guration. In order to meet customers’ future logistics requirements nationwide,

Silamas will have to use more vehicles for the same total load. Glinpu says: “Our ties with Goldhofer are the product of a successful partnership going back over many years. The modules have already more than proven their reliability in countless transport operations. The THP/SL-L modules in particular offer ideal characteristics needed for heavy haulage today. Thanks to their optimum payload-to-axle-load ratio, they will be the perfect solution for our response tothe new regulations.”

GREATER FLEXIBILITYMEGATRANS WITH THE FIRST »ADDRIVE« IN THAILAND

OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE WITH GOLDHOFERNEW CUSTOMER AESA BREAKS NEW GROUND

AESA is specialized in engineering, construction, manufacturing, and services to the energy industry and today is one of Argentina’s largest EPC compa-nies. The company has been involved in a growing number of major construction projects not only in Argentina but also in Uruguay, Bolivia, Peru and Brazil.

To ensure reliable handling of the related construction site logistics and aiming to strengthen its equipment for the wide array of incoming energy projects focused mainly on renewables, AESA has recently ordered se-veral Goldhofer heavy-duty modules, including the fi rst »ADDRIVE« to be shipped to Argentina. AESA represen-tatives acknowledged that the acquisition of Goldhofer products enables the company to offer the complete range of relevant transport services with a compara-tively small number of modules.

For more than forty years, T.S.K. Crane Service Co., Ltd.,which has bases in Rayong, Sriracha and Saraburi, has been one of the leading companies for integrated engineering services in Thailand.

Since 2008, the company has been a convincedGoldhofer customer, with more than 100 axle lines and a wide range of additional equipment ordered from the German world market leader for heavy-duty and oversized cargo transportation solutions in the last few years. Megatrans is always keen to maintaina fl eet that is state of the art. Thus, it has now become the fi rst company in Thailand to acquire a THP module with »ADDRIVE«. As Meatharphatt Tanawattanachaiya-bul, the Managing Director of Megatrans and Service Co., Ltd., put it: “For us, the THP with »ADDRIVE« is the ideal solution for transporting heavy loads like cranes

on routes that include sections with steep gradients. The ability to choose between maximum tractive force and higher travel speeds gives us outstanding fl exibility with just one vehicle. With the switchable performance boost available with the »ADDRIVE« and additional accessories, such as the drop deck and the turntable bolster for long loads, the module is a real allrounder.”

With its extremely high bending moment, it is also a safe solution for carrying concentrated loads. Meathar-phatt Tanawattanachaiyabul: “Since the »ADDRIVE« arrived, the module has been in use almost every day. In all probability, if the vehicle continues to perform so well, it will not remain the only one in our fl eet.”

The order placed by AESA in May 2017 comprised two »ADDRIVE« trailers and twelve additional THP/SL axle lines with gooseneck as well as various loading decks and turntable bolsters. The company trusts that the »ADDRIVE« technology and its fl exibility to switch between the self-propelled and trailered modes makes it the perfect solution for long journeys that include dif-fi cult sections like steep gradients. As a result, heavy machinery and components can be transported from one place to another using one single vehicle.

FRIDERICI INVESTS IN »MPA« TECHNOLOGY FLEXIBILITY AND AVAILABILITY INCREASED

EMPLOYMENT OF THP/SL MODULES AND SPACERS DRIVES KUALA LUMPUR METRO CONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Friderici Spécial is a Swiss company that dates allthe way back to the 1880s. In the meantime, the owner-managed family business operates from three locations, and its logistics expertise has long been in great demand on both the Swiss and the international heavy haulage and special transportation markets. With a very large and well diversifi ed fl eet, Friderici Spécial has the fl exibility needed to independently handle every phase of almost any transport operation, from the initial planning to the fi nal execution. The Swiss company has been a loyal Goldhofer customer since 1976 and now owns 30 low loader semitrailers with a wide range of accessories in the STZ, SPZ and MPA series from the German manufacturer of heavy haulage and special transport solutions.

Latest additions to the Friderici fl eet: two MPA 6sAt the end of 2017, Friderici took delivery of two brand-new Goldhofer MPA 6s. CEO Jean-Paul Friderici explains: “With their outstanding steering system, operational fl exibility and an attractive deadweight-to-payload ratio, the two semi low-loaders are a meaningful addition to our fl eet. These characteristics fully support our aim of offering our customers real added value in the form of optimum

Xin Hwa Holdings was founded in 1965 and is now one of the leading transport companies in Malaysia, with a subsidiary operating in Singapore. The logistics services provider has won a contract to deliver com-ponents to Kuala Lumpur’s prestigious, long-term MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) construction project. Work on the network for the Malaysian capital, which will include an underground line, began in 2011. On completion,

which is scheduled for 2021, the new high-speed rail-way will form the backbone of the city’s public trans-port system and will link the existing rail network with the Klang Valley Integrated Transit System.

Xin Hwa has been contracted to deliver a large number of huge concrete beams weighing up to 160 t each to various MRT construction sites as of next year. The company will be using a Goldhofer vehicle combina-tion ordered specially for the purpose from the German world market leader for heavy-duty road haulage and oversized cargo transportation. The order comprises more than 100 THP/SL axle lines and additional spacers. The THP/SL vehicle combination with the extendable spacers is the ideal solution for transporting very long concrete beams. The THP/SL concept – one of the ab-solute classics in the heavy-haulage industry – offers big advantages in terms of fl exibility for on-road and inside-plant operations and on construction sites.

plannability, operational safety and reliability as well as outstanding performance in terms of resourceeffi ciency.” In the six-axle version, the MPA can handle a payload of 76 t at an axle load of 12 t each, while the extendable deck permits a wide range of cargos to be carried.

This low loader semitrailer is also very much at home on the construction site, where self-propelled plant can be quickly loaded via a two-piece ramp. All that is very much to the liking of Technical Director André Friderici: “After the fi rst few jobs, I got a lot of positive feedback from our transport crews. The drivers are delighted with the MacPherson axle with the 60 degree steering angle, which means signifi cantly improved maneuverability with auxiliary steering. With regard to the economics, we are particularly happy with the low maintenance requirements of the MPA 6. Reducing the steering axle system to so few parts means less wear and very impressive long-term availability.”

WE ALWAYS HAVE THE FUTURE IN MINDTHE PILLARS OF THE COMPANY

As a trendsetting company with a long tradition, Goldhofer is proud to have received both the environ-mental certifi cates and the “Top Employer” and “World Market Leader Champion” awards. Of course, this is not a coincidence. All our processes, actions and ways of thinking are aimed not only at maintaining the tradi-tionally high quality of our products, but also at being a sustainable, forward-looking company, which identi-fi es approaching challenges at an early stage and fi nds ways to tackle these challenges with the resources at hand.

There are many examples of our innovative and resource-saving corporate philosophy and our social commitment. As many of you probably know, the Goldhofer AG and its subsidiaries are owned by the Alois Goldhofer Foun-dation, whose purpose is the support of young people. When Karoline Goldhofer made this decision in the year 2000 and signed over all her company shares to the Foundation, it served only one important goal for the future: The Goldhofer AG should keep its existing form even if no family member decided to be her successor. This way, she secured her life’s work and, at the same time, she also secured many job and training opportuni-ties in the region.

Day after day, this farsighted and, in the best sense of the word, conservative way of thinking inspires us to give all our best and to ensure the sustainability, effi -ciency and competitiveness of the company by always keeping up with the times. With our own, large photo-voltaic plant and a local heating concept, we save great amounts of energy from fossil fuels and signifi cantly reduce CO2 emissions at the same time. Already during production, we have a critical eye on our vehicles in order to ensure the best possible operation in terms of wear and tear. We also pay special attention to the trend electromobility and work on it in several projects. With the »SHERPA« E, a baggage and cargo two tractor for airports or in-house transports, Goldhofer has made its fi rst step in this direction and offers a completely new technology in this sector, providing a basis for other groundbreaking electro vehicles with high tractive force, reliability and endurance. In addition to the introduction of trendsetting technologies, we also provide the best possible working conditions to ensure that the devel-opment of our personnel refl ects our future-oriented philosophy.

The needs-based apprenticeship offers graduates many different commercial and industrial professions. From day one, our apprentices play an active role in our company and, when they have completed their training, they have laid the foundations for a successful career start. Moreover, students of many disciplines can do an internship at Goldhofer with individual projects. They can also work on a relevant topic in a bachelor’sor master’s thesis and develop recommendations for the company.

Of course, in the ideal case, we want to keep this extensive know-how in our company. Therefore, we generally give our apprentices as well as our bachelors and masters a job offer – because they are the future of what began in 1705 in a forge in Amendingen.

GOLDFHOFER ACADEMYGOES LIVE!

Tailor-made solutions are our strength. Consequently, every one of our customers fi nds a vehicle that op-timally fulfi lls the relevant requirements. However, a vehicle can only achieve its full performance if the oper-ator can control it perfectly. We therefore attach great importance to an intensive training during the handover of the vehicle. This ensures safe vehicle handling and optimal use of all technical possibilities offered by our modern vehicles.

We have been meeting this requirement for many years. However, if you know us, you also know that we want to make good things even better. In the last issue of the »MAG1705«, we have already announced that we will introduce our service products in the coming issues and we want to start here with our Goldhofer Academy.

LATEST TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE TURKISH TRANSPORT INDUSTRYAğir Nakliyeciler Derneği (AND) is a Turkish association with a current membership of thirteen leading compa-nies in the heavy haulage business. It was founded in November 2016 to represent the interests of the Turkish heavy haulage industry as a whole and to enable its members to speak with one voice in communicating its extensive demands for modernization to the Turkish government. In particular, the association has set its sights on “eliminating all legal and infrastructural obsta-cles to heavy haulage at the national and international levels so as to enable its members to develop more effi cient and effective logistics processes.”

In order to give individual AND members access to information on modern transport technologies and fi rst-hand experience of various vehicles in action, our Turkish agency Karun organized a two-day visit

After many hours of conceptual design, planning and, of course, many days of shooting, the time has fi nally come: The Goldhofer Group is presenting its new corporate videos – three of them, to be precise. We have put a lot of brainwork into how we should present ourselves appropriately, both in terms of a complete coverage of our portfolio and in terms of a correct focus on what we are showing. This is the basis for our concept, which was designed with a modular structure for our videos in mind – thus en-abling us, in future, to provide you with new content at any given time without having to shoot complete-ly new videos. In addition, the videos can also be extended any time. With this milestone, Goldhofer is setting new benchmarks in the industry and is posi-tioning itself for the future – we want to be closer to our customers and we want to focus on their require-ments more than ever, also with our new videos!

60 KITA PLACESFOR MEMMINGENCurrently, the former house of Karoline and Alois Goldhofer is being converted and expanded into amodern “Kita” (which is short for “Kindertagesstätte”, i.e. a day-care center for children). When entrepreneur Karoline Goldhofer-Prützel died in 2013, she left the estate in Memmingen, including a large garden, to the Alois Goldhofer Foundation, which she had founded in 1990. She decreed in her will that the foundation, as sole shareholder of the Goldhofer AG, is obliged to convert the house into a Kita, to fi nance the re-modeling and to permanently rent the Kita and the garden to the city of Memmingen for free.

The Kita is based on the educational philosophy of the Reggio pedagogy (www.dialogreggio.de). Basic elements of this philosophy are the focus on the indi-vidual strengths of the children and their right to get the best possible education, to develop a distinctive identity as well as to receive respect and love. The conscious interaction with the existing environment as well as natural resources and recycling materials is another element of the Reggio concept. Therefore, the old Goldhofer house will be reused as an elemen-tary part of the Kita as far as possible.

The whole Kita will be equipped with a building enve-lope made from translucent materials, which allows for generous views from the inside and outside. The old Goldhofer house shines through and is still recognizable. An innovative energy concept and the use of recyclable materials help to develop a modern, sustainable building. With its old trees, newly created plant plots as well as areas with sand and sludge, the garden is a place where the children can freely express their imagination and creativity.

Manfred Schilder, major of the city of Memmingen, recognizes the value of the new Kita: “The ‘Karoline Goldhofer Kita’ combines regional entrepreneurship, great personal commitment and public sponsorship to serve the family-friendly city of Memmingen in an exemplary way.”
