    STEP 1

    Upon arrival at the patients home, place the

    bag on the table lined with clean paper. The

    clean side must be out and the folded part

    touching the table.

    Ask for a basin of drinking water if tap water is

    not available.

    Open the bag and take out the towel and

    soap.

    Wash hands using soap and water, wipe to

    dry.

    were used and perform hand washing.

    Open the bag and return all things that were

    used in their proper places after cleaning them.

    Remove apron, folding it away from the person,

    the soiled side in and the clean side out. Place

    it in the bag.

    Fold the lining, place it inside the bag and close

    the bag.

    Take the record and have a talk with the

    mother. Write down all the necessary data that

    were gathered, observations, nursing care and

    treatment rendered. Give instructions for care

    of patients in the absence of the nurse.

    1. Apply 5 mL of the urine sample into a

    test tube.

    2. Boil the upper portion of the test tube.3. Add 3-5 drops of 10% acetic acid to

    the tube.

    4.Compare the tube against the

    diagrammatic result interpretation

    chart and record the result.

    tube is placed in front of a typed sheet of paper, printed

    letters can be clearly read through the tube.

    (+1) Definite turbidity observed. Printed letters can be clearly

    read through the tube.

    (+2) Definite turbidity observed. Printed letters cannot be read

    clearly through the tube.

    (+3) Definite turbidity observed. Nothing can be observed

    through the tube.

    (+4) Protein clots are seen in the tube.

    BENEDICTS TEST

    1. Take 5 ml (one teaspoon) of Benedict's solution in the test-

    tube.

    2. Holding the test-tube with the holder, heat it over alcohol

    lamp till the Benedict's Solution boils without overflowing.3. Drop 8 to 10 drops of urine into the boiling Benedict's

    solution.

    4. After again boiling the mixture, let it cool down.

    5. While cooling, the mixture changes color.6. The color of the mixture serves as a guide to the amount of

    sugar in the urine/
