1. Performing the bag technique will minimize, ifnot prevent the spread of any infection.

2. It saves time and effort in the performance ofnursing procedures

3. The bag technique should not overshadow concernfor the client but rather show the effectiveness oftotal care given to an individual or family.

4. The bag technique can be performed in a variety ofways depending on the institutions policy, in thehome situation, or as long as principles of avoidingtransfer of infection is always observed.

1. The bag should contain all the necessary articles,supplies and equipment that will be used to answeremergency needs.

2. The bag and its content s should be cleaned very often,the supplies replaced, and ready for use anytime.

3. The bag and its contents should be protected fromcontact with any article in the patients home.

4.The arrangement of the contents of the bag should beone most convenient to the user, to facilitate efficiencyand avoid confusion

1.Remove paper lining from the bag.

2. Spread Paper lining with clean side out (folded part

touching the surface) on flat surface of table, chest or

box, or if none, on the floor.

3. Place the bag on the upper left side of the paper

lining with the bag opening facing the working area

and the bags handles or strap tucked carefully beneath

the bag.

4.Open the bag and take out the plastic lining.

5. Lay plastic lining over the paper lining with clean side out( folded part out).

6. Bring out towel and soap with soap dish.

7. Close the bag without locking and perform hand washing.

8. After hand washing, put the soap and the soap dish on the

paper lining ( outside the plastic lining ) with hand towel on

the top of the soap dish.

9. Put on the apron observing proper technique.

10.Open the bag and remove articles needed for care making

sure that they are placed within the plastic lining.

11. Place paper receptacle outside the work area.

12. Close the bag and complete care.

13. After completing the nursing care, clean articles used. (

Articles are usually disinfected using alcohol including the top of

the plastic lining).

14. Close and discard the paper receptacle.
