The greatest talents from the PCL and International League will converge at Cheney Stadium on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 for the showcase to be televised nationally on MLB Network. This will mark the 30th anniversary of the Triple-A All-Star game. 2017 will mark the first time the Tacoma franchise, members of the Pacific Coast League since 1960, have hosted the Triple-A All-Star Game. The contest has been held annually since 1988, and rotates between International League and Pacific Coast League locations. The selection of Cheney Stadium and the Rainiers to host the 2017 Triple-A All-Star Game also marks the first time since 2013 that a Mariners affiliate has hosted an All-Star event.

MiLB TOP 25 LICENSED MERCHANDISE SALES: Minor League Baseball announced its list of Top 25 teams in licensed merchandise sales for 2015, with the combined totals of all 160 teams setting a Minor League Baseball record with more than $65.1 million in retail sales. The $65.1 million total marks a 7.9 percent increase over 2014’s total of $60.3 million, which had been the highest total recorded since Minor League Baseball’s licensing program began in 1992. The numbers are based on total licensed merchandise sales from January 1 – December 31, 2015, and include the 160 teams in the domestic-based leagues that charge admission to their games. GAME 2 RECAP: The Generals scored 5 runs in the top of the 4th inning, including a 3-run home run by LF Patrick Brady with 2 outs as Jackson defeated Mississippi 6-4 to split the doubleheader on Monday night. SS Benji Gonzalez (2x4, R, 3B) led the team with 2 hits, while Brady (1x3, R, H, 3 RBI), CF Guillermo Heredia (1x4), RF Tyler O’Neill (1x2, R, BB, HBP), 1B D.J. Peterson (1x3, R, 2B, RBI, BB) and DH Tim Lopes (1x2, R, 2 BB) each collected 1 of the Generals 7 hits. Starter Jordan Pries (6.0,6,1,1,1,7,HR) earned his 2nd win, allowing 1 run on 6 hits over 6.0 innings. SOUTHERN LEAUGE PITCHER OF THE WEEK: RH reliever Emilo Pagan was named Southern League Pitcher of the Week, June 6-12. On Saturday night, Pagan recorded his 4th win of the season, striking out 3 over a scoreless 11th and 12th inning en route to helping the Generals clinch a playoff spot for the first time since 2012. This is the 4th time in 2016 that a General has won a weekly award from the Southern League. Tyler O’Neill was named Player of the Week, while both Dylan Unsworth and Ryan Yarbrough earned Pitcher of the Week honors in May. FIRST HALF CHAMPIONS: The Generals clinched the Southern League North Division First Half Title with a 3-2 13-inning win over the Mississippi Braves on Saturday night, becoming the first team in all of Minor League Baseball to secure a playoff spot. It is the first playoff berth for Jackson since the Generals won the 2012 North Division First Half Title with a 42-28 first half record. Friday May 12th was the first time all year the Generals were not atop the North Division, as they trailed Montgomery by a half-game. The Generals have either been in a tie for first or alone in first for 65 of the first 66 days this season. Jackson currently has the best record in the Southern League at 40-22, three and a half games ahead of 36-25 Pensacola. HEY NOW YOU ARE AN ALL-STAR: The Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs announced the roster for the North Division in the 2016 All-Star Game, and 7 Generals were selected as Mid-Season All-Stars. Outfielders Tyler O’Neill and Guillermo Heredia are joined by pitchers Brett Ash, Emilio Pagan, Dylan Unsworth, Ryan Yarbrough and Edwin Diaz. The Generals have more All-Stars than any other team in the division, and the 7 selections are the most for the club since 2012.
