TRANSCRIPT

  • Means of Grace is part of our School of Discipleship, taught by Rev. Jack Peebles, and is an exploration of spiritual disciplines. Join in at 9:45am in room 310 of the Edington Ministry Center. Each week will feature teaching and time to actually practice the disciplines in class; topics like prayer, meditation, service, study and more. And every Sunday is a stand alone lesson, so jump in!

Please pray for our SHINE Childrens Ministry Team of Staff and Volunteers as 350 children join us this week for THE BIG DIG Vacation Bible School. Pray that they would discover Gods presence in a BIG way, and that our team would have the insight and energy to serve them well!

    NEXT STEP

Looking for a community where you can lead and connect with others? Our Chancel Choir is a great place to make friends and find your voice. Our Summer Choir is now open any Sunday and you can join in for the morning. Just meet at 7:30am in the Rehearsal Room, on the first floor of the Edington Ministry Center.

Thank you for coming to First Presbyterian Church of Orlando this morning! So glad youre here. We worship together as a church family in four services on Sundays: Traditional worship in the Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11am, and Genesis worship in Lee Fellowship Hall at 9:45 and 11am. If youd like to connect and learn more about this church, visit our Legacy Room adjacent to the Sanctuary, or you can visit fpco.org/guest.

If youve been visiting this church family and youre ready to learn more, today is the day! Dr. Case Thorp will be hosting First Step, a 30-minute overview of life at First Pres, this morning after the 11:00am worship services. Join us in The Legacy Room, on the first floor of the Edington Ministry Center. Its a great chance to connect with others, ask questions and find your place.

    THIS WEEK

NEXT WEEKNext Sunday is our final week of Strike Hunger month, as we collect food for children at local elementary schools. You can help in a big way by bringing a few items to stock their food pantry for the school year. See the full list of needed items at fpco.org/hunger.

  • As we work our way through describing the various parts and purposes of the worship service, we look today to the ascription. I have been asked What is an ascription? Ascribing is the act of acknowledging and proclaiming credit to God for some attribute of which he is the source. It is a word praising some aspect of his being. It is a prayer that centers entirely on God without inserting ourselves into the prayer. It is thanking God for benefits which we derive from his character and person. We are proclaiming his worth, not as people competent to judge his worth, but as people who bow to the greatness of God. We are praising the Truth. Our ascription is an exaltation of the greatness of God. Such a prayer is another reminder to ourselves of who we are, who God is, and what we have come to do in this service of worship. - Dr. Dan Sharp

RECYCLE YOUR BULLETIN8:30am & 9:45am worshipers can help the church be better stewards of our resources and environment by placing this worship bulletin in one of our recycling stations as you leave today.

There are two right outside the Sanctuary: one in the Grand Hallway leading to the Edington Ministry Center, and one across from the entrance to the Prayer Room. If youre in Lee Fellowship Hall, look for one to the right of the exit as you leave.

The bulletins are reused for the 11:00am worship services, and recycled on Monday morning.
